These flying beasts are very loyal bonding for life with their owners. Originally from the mountainous north of the Empire they are used by courtiers on Songborne to send messages to the world below. They are bred at the palace that has its own kennels.
Their eggs are collected once a year from the underside of the great floating rock of Songborne in the Kengar Egg hunt. Zorga Balloons balloons are taken down and must be piloted dangerously close to the rock to retrieve an egg. Over the years many participants have died.
For centuries many wild Kengar have lived and nested in the rocks below the palace. They often fly up the palace to chase Rasa and other food.
Tame and trained Kengar are kept in private hands and those belonging to the emperor at the Kengar Kennels.
The most prized of the Kengar are known as Crown Wings. With golden scales these rare creatures can fetch exorbitant prices and infer a ton of status on an individual.
Less than one a year is found with-in the empire, sometimes none are found for several years.
