Previous Episode: Sands of Time - S01 E06
Starting where they left off at the deserted Billy's Bastion tavern, the adventurers quickly decided to leave Khar Benidir, sensing the danger lingering after their recent heist. They set their sights on Madher, a coastal town known for its black markets, hoping to sell their stolen treasures. Choosing a shortcut through a mountain pass, they made good time, but halfway through their journey, Jack ‘Jacky’ Can and Nash Gu'lad noticed a gnome by a pond near a dead tree. Approaching the pond, Juulia Troski, Davkas Grosko, Emberglow, and Butters P. Nutts fell into a net trap. The gnome revealed himself as Arnie Knucklebog, accompanied by a Tiefling Rogue named Arceus, a human ranger named Elara, a Dwarf Barbarian named Drogan, and a Kobold Wizard named Thorne. Arceus demanded the Sands of Time, but the adventurers explained they didn’t have it. Learning that the mercenaries were hired by Captain John Cutter of the Coins & Cloaks guild, they proposed an alliance to travel together to Madher. After two and a half days of travel, they arrived in Madher and went to the infamous Cuckoo Bananas tavern. The night ended in a haze of Joy Juice, and the adventurers woke up in a strange location with no memory of the night before, bizarre items, and Abby missing. Among the items were a map with scribbles, a key, a receipt, a toy, and an artifact. They also noticed banana tattoos on their foreheads.
They retraced their steps, leading to several discoveries and confrontations. An angry man with a black eye confronted them, which ended with Jack accidentally killing him. At the Maritime Museum, a fired security guard accused them of stealing an artifact, confirming their drunken misadventures. At the black market, they learned more about their night from a Dancing Man and discovered that Abby was last seen with them at the Salty Dog tavern. At the Salty Dog, Juulia disguised herself as Billy Ryler and convinced the tavernkeeper to put their debt on Billy’s tab. The receipt revealed a message from Billy to meet at midnight, but the adventurers couldn’t recall any of it. Returning to Cuckoo Bananas, they learned from the bartender and tattoo artist that they had been there with Abby, who left with a stranger. Tracking the clues led them to a nearby school, where they found Abby safe. Back at the black market, Juulia, still disguised as Billy, tricked the twin merchants into revealing a storage room with a trapdoor leading to a dungeon. Solving two riddles from a stone golem, the real Billy Ryler appeared, forcing the adventurers to use a Tiny Hut spell for cover while they planned their next move. The session ended with the adventurers inside the Tiny Hut, Billy Ryler approaching, and the promise of further adventure in the dungeon below.
