The city reflects the ideals of the Western Kingdom. Humans dominate every aspect of public life, and while foreigners are welcome to trade, few permanently settle within the city. Non-humans are generally viewed with caution rather than open hostility, especially since the kingdom's long-standing policy has favored human rule and culture.

Redhaven is the political, military and ceremonial heart of Aclea. Built on the kingdom's southern coastline overlooking a broad natural harbor, it has served as the seat of House Red for over a thousand years. Every royal decree, noble assembly and military campaign ultimately begins in Redhaven. Although it is Aclea's largest city, it remains heavily fortified, reflecting the kingdom's belief that the capital must be able to withstand a prolonged siege.

Occupying the highest ground overlooking the harbor, the Royal District contains Red Palace, residence of House Red and the royal court. The district is enclosed behind an inner wall and is home to the Royal Council, treasury, archives, royal barracks and administrative halls. Surrounding the palace are the estates of Aclea's oldest noble families. Many nobles spend only part of the year here, returning to their own lands outside the capital once court sessions conclude.

Long before the kingdom existed, the southern bay served as a natural anchorage for coastal fishermen. When Arthan Red of House Red, then Lord of the United Lands, sought a permanent seat of power in 10 ADM, he chose this location for its defensible coastline, open access to the sea and central position among the western territories. Around his hilltop fortress a settlement quickly formed, protected by strong stone walls. The settlement became known simply as Red Haven, referring both to its sheltered harbor and the crimson banners of House Red. Over the centuries the two words merged into Redhaven. When Alethan Red succeeded Arthan, he expanded the fortress into a permanent royal residence and laid the foundations of the noble quarter. During the rule of Emerthan, the growing town was enclosed by larger walls as merchants and craftsmen flocked to the capital. The city's greatest transformation came under Serathan Red I, crowned in 861 ADM as the first King of the Western Kingdom. Rather than merely ruling Aclea as a lord, he centralized authority in Redhaven. Royal ministries, noble courts and military command were permanently established there, making the city the unquestioned capital of the realm. Serathan Red III commissioned the first Grand Arena, formalizing the ancient tradition of martial games. The arena games predates the monarchy itself. During the era of the Lords of the United Lands, warriors gathered to settle disputes, demonstrate martial skill and celebrate victories through ritual combat. Over time these contests evolved into organized gladiatorial games. Today the Festival of the Seven Lords remains Redhaven's largest annual celebration, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from across Aclea. For many Acleans, attending the festival at least once in their lifetime is considered a rite of passage. Serathan Red V expanded the harbor and strengthened the southern walls after increased pirate activity. Serathan Red VII rebuilt much of the palace following a devastating fire and established the modern Royal Archives. King Enathan Red ordered the construction of many of the ceremonial buildings that still define the city's skyline today.

As the capital, Redhaven houses the kingdom's largest permanent garrison. Approximately 6,000 professional soldiers. Around 400 Red Knights, serving as the king's elite household guard. Royal Harbor Guard responsible for coastal defense .City Watch numbering roughly 1,200 In times of war, the surrounding countryside can rapidly raise an additional 15,000–20,000 levies, all mustering outside the capital before marching under the banners of House Red.

Redhaven serves as the administrative and economic heart of Aclea. While trade is less extensive than in many eastern kingdoms, the city prospers through:
