Previous Episode: Voyage of the Cursed Dawn - S01 E13
The session picked up with Captain Jack reaching the top of the floating island in Farrock and heading toward a ruined structure. Emberglow jumped off Jack’s back to wait for the rest of the group, who soon climbed up and investigated. Rasa Arziki found tracks leading to the small ruined building, where the group discovered a trapdoor emitting a strange blue-purple light. They entered and found themselves in a crystal-lit cave system with unstable reality fabric beneath them potentially teleporting anything that falls into it. The group was ambushed by Blink Dogs, which they defeated and harvested for their tails. Deeper into the cave, they found a corpse holding two tomes:
- Codex of Shattered Stars
- Echoes Beyond the Void
Soon after, Red Flint arrived from a different entrance, accompanied by five Dragonborn temple goers. Flint secretly found a Planar Compass (a magical item) and kept it hidden from the party. The group then descended further through a large hole and entered a void-crossed chamber filled with bridges. At the center was a massive arcane portal, and surrounding it were Red Knights and a commanding officer, identified as Bryan Ryker, commander of the Western Kingdom's forces. It was revealed that the “beasty” Jack had spoken of was a massive Amethyst dragon, imprisoned and being tortured to fuel the portal, allowing the Western Kingdom to move their fleet across the sea. In a bold move, Juulia Troski cast Geas on Bryan Ryker and commanded him to free the dragon. The dragon, once released, unleashed chaos, disintegrating the Red Knights and nearly turning on the party.
However, Emberglow, in desperation, sang a childhood song taught to him by his adopted dragon mother. The dragon recognized it. It introduced itself as Embermaw, Emberglow’s brother, hatched from the same nest. Touched by the moment, Embermaw invited Emberglow to return with him to visit their draconic family. Emberglow agreed, parting ways with the group and handing the Heartseeker compass over to Flint. Captain Jack, true to his word, promised to join the party’s fleet, but first mentioned he must visit an old friend on Isla de Muerta, flipping a Piece of Eight between his fingers.
