Previous Episode: Voyage of the Cursed Dawn - S02 E03
The session picks up with the players sailing at full speed, but the Shadow Shroom close in and board the ship. A gnomish boarding party arrives, demanding the whereabouts of Davkas Grosko. Thinking quickly, Rasa Arziki casts Feign Death on Davkas, making him appear dead. The gnomes, believing the ruse, take his body aboard their own ship. Red Flint boards the enemy vessel and encounters Jacob Black, a noble on his way to Si'ini. Meanwhile, Juulia Troski secretly casts Obey on the Shadow Shroom's first mate. Butters sneaks into the captain's quarters and finds Davkas’ "body" laid out on a table. He meets Flint Balderk and Skullcap, the feared leader of the Shadow Shroom. Butters P. Nutts refuses to leave when warned and pushes his luck, until Skullcap uses Power Word Kill, instantly disintegrating him.
Davkas is revived and forced into a secret deal: deliver Abby (the Sands of Time) to Skullcap, or face dire consequences. The players don't yet know of this betrayal. Back on the player’s ship, Jacob Black and Flint Balderk join the crew for their voyage to Si’ini. The group strikes a deal with Jacob: he buys their ship for 5000 gp, but gets 35% of the profits, unless the players fail to bring in over 1001 gp profit in one month, in which case he takes 65%. They sail onward, unaware of Davkas’ looming betrayal. That’s where the session ends.
