You found existence one day emerging from the mist that borders your world. You know nothing of a previous life, your memory starts with your emergence. Most mistborn find that there is no evidence of a previous life where they emerged into, but some find trailing evidence of one (a person who inexplicably knows you as a different name, a family who recognizes you as a family member, etc.). Upon emergence, you noticed that you were carrying a 6 inch long string, and you have no clue how it got there.

Typically, after emergence, a Mistborn finds themselves guided to safety in a civilization, to the wilderness, or another location by a deity or a messenger of a deity. Where the deity guided you to depends on the deity in question, and what their various domains are.

Divine Guide

A deity took notice of your emergence and guided you to safety. The DM decides where you were guided to, or you may request somewhere to the DM, but you may choose or roll for the deity who your guide was. Alternatively, if your deity is minor or not typically known in the normal pantheon of your setting, you may choose that as long as your DM knows.

The deity in question depends on your setting, you can find the table options below:

Memory Resurface

Whether it has to do with your forgotten life or simply trying to make up for lost time, you find yourself to be a quick learner. Additionally, mercurial bits of information or recognition occasionally surface in your mind. Perhaps a name or person seems very familiar or untrustworthy, you know you should turn left here rather than right, or you're quite certain owlbears do not usually hunt in packs as your companions are insisting.

Suggested Characteristics

There's no escaping the fact that you're missing a significant part of yourself, your past, and this likely shapes who you are and who you will become. Your flaws and ideals may be extreme representations of your feelings about your circumstances.
