Deshela
Deshela was primarily formed by immigrants from Dreushai, booming with the start of the magitech revolution. Its union of Asuvian magic and Dreushan technology has led to a particularly unique construction of nature and industry.
They work quite closely with Ufrana, sharing scholars between their city-states in the pursuit of innovation. There is also mild collaboration with Rajpathar, though Deshela has a closer alliance with its fellow city-state.
City Landmarks
The Rain Spire
A natural formation: a singular pillar-like mountain that rises amid the city-state. Its height leaves its peak frozen throughout the year, and its steady melting through the warm season means except in times of drought, icemelt waterfalls constantly pour. Dedicated to Hisia, much of the mountains is left untouched. Lifts and floating platforms have allowed for largely unobtrusive movement up the mountain, to the shrines to Hisia as well as The Old Crow, which rests near its icy cap.
The Shrine to Hisia is unorthodox. Bridges built along the barren edge of the mountain face allow one to walk to a cave bored into the wall — once a Roc's aerie, now a sacred space for the god of the wild. Moss and lichen cover its damp walls, and many climbing creatures make it home.
The Shrine to The Raven Queen is located far above Deshela. Mist and snow often shroud this place. Those who have recently lost a loved one sometimes make this journey to offer prayers in this ever-winter. A conspiracy dwells here, observing those who come to honor their matron and those in her fold.
A Shrine to Detimez is constructed at its base. This makes the crystal spire unique in its dedication to three gods.
Jossian's Spire
The second, Jossian's spire, is dedicated to arcane affairs. Like the spire of Kaii'k, Jossian's spire holds certain branches of the University, which rest on floating islands. These islands rotate throughout the day so their shadows blend with the spire's.
Further to the ground, the spire is home to publicly accessible magic shops, selling items and creatures alike. Crystals can be replenished and exchanged. Towards the middle and the taller half, research and development is conducted. In conjunction with the university, prestigious and ambitious projects are carried out here, with dedicated spaces to contain any potential accidents. More exclusive wares can also be perused here. Finally, it is home to the Iron Hands, the de-facto shikar sect of Deshela, who specialize in combating magic.
At its peak is a shrine to Jossian. Platforms and open air allow for casters to practice in honor of Jossian, with fountains in which to cleanse their hands.
Kaii'k's Spire
The third, Kaii'k's Spire, is dedicated to physical craft. Kaii'k is the god of the forge in the Dreushan pantheon. He is often depicted with the body of a human and the maned head of a lion. The golden scars on his chest mark his first work of art: the body he made.
This spire borders the artisan quarter. Smiths, jewelers, armories, masons, and any type of craftsman can be found here. Many whose shops are upon the spire are renowned, with people making the journey even across the seas to access their wares. Similarly, the engineering branch of the university is found here, accessible through systems of lifts and bridges. The steam they exhale mists the plants growing above, accustomed to the heat and humidity.
At its top is a temple to Kaii'k. Many forges and other types of artisans tools are available to those who make donations to the temple.
The University of Deshela
Deshela's University covers many realms of study,is
best known for its engineering and artificing schools. It also offers
education in certain schools of arcane magic, most commonly
transmutation, conjuration, divination, and evocation. The campus is broad, spread between the spires of Jossian and Kaii'k, and upon its own floating islands. Bridges, public transport, and teleportation circles allow for easy transport around campus.
The Boardwalk
A lakeside public area, constantly blooming with new activities, games, merchants, and foods. A ferris wheel is the centerpiece of the boardwalk, giving a view over the entirety of the city-state, and said to be most gorgeous at night. A massive, open plaza is often rented out for concerts, circuses, and similar events.
Technology
Deshela has a well-developed infrastructure. Much like Límíng City, they have a system of amethyst roads on which wind riders and similar vehicles can operate. The construction of aqueducts and cisterns has allowed for Deshela's
growing population to flourish in the Voiceless Desert.
