Abokya

Description

An elven woman, of suantonese and Wukaran background. She is a longtime criminal, operating in a partnership with Tíchan. She is also the owner of The Lucky Rabbit.

Abokya has become a benefactor and mentor-figure to much of Liutubang, tasking them with the original goal that led to their formation as a shikar sect.

Abokya has been revealed to be an unknowing warlock of Aduwo.

Within the Campaign

Abokya first appeared as a windrider driver, taking Tamara Faridun, Cheon Do-Yun, and Vic'tel Vianrodeth into Límíng City. The party would not learn of this early meeting until later.

The party in full met Abokya in Su-an Toan, encountering her and Tíchan in the forest after a heist. Abokya approached the party shortly after this, arriving in the aftermath of Yu Atsushi's arrest of Loveless. Her aid of the party led her to becoming a longtime benefactor to Liutubang.

Abokya would later call in a favor, sending Liutubang to Rajpathar to steal the blueprints of the Riftloom made by Sidhi Palavi. She proceeded to aid Liutubang in their investigation of the Blood Rite, their heist of Death's Door, the rescue of Do-Yun from the Spirit Realm, and continues to provide emergency assistance when called upon.

The discovery of Aduwo's influence upon her has created a strain in her relationship with Liutubang. Entering her mindscape revealed the severity of her condition, her mind fully parasitized by an alien entity.

History

Abokya was born in Wukaru, spending her early childhood with her cattle-driver father. After his early demise, Abokya was sent to live with her uncle in Su-an Toan. She was selected to be a vessel of the lich monarch of the Old Necrocracy and was raised accordingly. Abokya was educated in bardic magic, though largely denied the teachings of the healing arts.

When the civil war against the Old Necrocracy began, Abokya fled with her friend and servant, Nasira, after helping her murder Abokya's uncle. The two of them remained together and took to criminal activity to survive. They would marry, and later would travel in the pursuit of the source of Nasira's disturbed dreams.

After ending up in the Astral Plane, Abokya lost Nasira and her arm. This is presumed to be the point at which she came under Aduwo's influence. At an unknown time after this, Abokya encountered Tíchan and began to work with him as a friend and partner. They operated as criminals together until moving to Límíng City.

Relationships

Tíchan

Abokya and Tíchan have a close and emotionally intimate relationship. Though not romantic, the two are partners in both crime and in life. They are each other's most frequent priority, with an understanding of the other's history and a deep compassion for their partner's wellbeing. Abokya is most vulnerable with Tíchan. This extends to the physical, the mental, and the emotional.

Liutubang

Abokya has become one of Liutubang's oldest and most devoted allies. She was the catalyst that set them on their path to becoming a shikar sect, and has been an informant, supporter, protector, and savior on more than one occasion. Outside of crises, Abokya provides a common area for the party to relax and enjoy their evenings. She assists them with the mundane difficulties of their relationships and with the more convoluted threats of a life of shikar and of crime. She also is willing to request favors from them in turn, such as in sending them to steal the Riftloom blueprints.

Unnamed Wife

At some point in her life, Abokya had been married. She has not given any details regarding this marriage, stating only that it came to an end in the same moment that she lost her arm.

Abilities

Bardic Magic

Abokya was trained in the arcane arts. Her skills match that of a bard's, though she largely lacks healing magic. Notable features of her practice include:

  • Lasting Inspiration: Abokya is able to inspire a group for an extended duration.
  • Psychic Blades: Abokya's physical attacks also damage the mind.
  • Mental Connection: Abokya is able to maintain an ongoing communicative link with others in spite of distance.

Epiphanies

Abokya has a an unprecedented sense for the future. By her own description, she typically only gleans small details from those around her. At times, she gets stronger senses of what's to come. The party has witnessed her foreboding pushing her to check on their wellbeing.

At times, Abokya gets stronger and more detailed impressions. This happened before the Blood Rite and then during the Ringmaster's Circus. In both instances, Abokya appeared physically harmed by her own premonitions, bleeding from the nose and experiencing symptoms akin to a migraine. Following these instances, her casting of at least the sending spell obtains a backlash.
