The Three Pillars

Book

A work by Lin of Brightgate, published in 12 Before Fall, Llewynfrid.

Excerpts:

  • “The Fourth Order is considered the most unpredictable of the Orders, for they are not guided by reason apparent to us. Strict adherents to the holy scriptures they jealously keep from outsiders, they religiously follow them to the point that many label them fanatics, which isn't far off the truth. It's said that the only way to force a disciple of the Order from his chosen course is by the order of the Grandmaster, or death.
It is for that reason that anyone with common sense is wary when dealing with a member, and in general they are left to their own devices.”
  • “In the beginning there were four, each guarding its sacred rites, each following its own purpose. But then the second fell, disregarding their duty, disregarding their mission. And they were soon crossed out of the annals. Then the third was forgotten, working from shadows too deep to be pierced by light. The fourth had been ostracised, pushed aside from those they served. And soon there was one, the last one to be revered as all once had been.”
