The Covenant

In the dark days following The Fall, each of the regions of the Westlands was left to cope with the loss of imperial rule in its own way. Rivtal, lacking any figure to claim it, remained divided for the longest it was only when the constant threat from both west and north all but spent the lands strength that the lords of the three largest cities of the region came together. While the details are not known, all three being powerful mages, they seem to have formed a pact with one or more of the powers, since then they have ruled Rivtal unchallenged.
