Large Green Half-Orc Bear Totem Barbarian, CG, Fisher Background
he/him, barely an adult (late teens by human standards, precise age unknown)
covered in elaborate scars for the Cult of the Eye, an especially brutal extremist group following Gruumsh (but not well recognized, this is mostly to prevent putting the ST into a position where this part of his presentation will logically derail an adventure).
- Mechanical Overview (D&D Beyond Sheet)
- absorb a lot of damage, deal a bunch of damage
- speak with animal and beast sense (spirit seeker)
- Common, Draconic, Primordial (aquan)
- Ok so what's his deal
- Grummen has questionable-at-best memories of what happened before he washed ashore as a child/teenager in quillpond and was "adopted" by Forge
- Grummen belives he is a good follower of Guumsh but has wound up at a very "test your might" interpretation of what the theology of Gruumsh is. He rememebrs the rites and rituals but the Meaning has been radically altered from "the strong should take from the weak" to "strength is proven by challenging deeds."
- Due to the events of Season 3 session 5 (near death experience and waking up with a magic metal eye during a test from Gruumsh) Grummen believes he is a champion of Gruumsh chosen by the god. Is it true? who's to say?
- Grummen is not nearly as dumb as I play him, common is his second language, and he did not want to learn it.
- Will absolutely resort to violence but is often curious

- Player Goals
To chill and play the big dumb hitter with occasional flashes of insight and comedy of manners style social interaction
Things That would amuse me:
- Grummen encountering stereotypical worshipers of Gruumsh. He's likely to think their exploitation of others is weakness and deal with them as heretics/apostate.
- Grummen being in places he's not equipped for, particularly when it works out (social situations, diplomacy, etc)
- Character Goals
- Prove Might
- Help others prove might
- This season:
- See all his friends again
- figure out what to do about being chosen y his god
- attend wedding
- Lines and Veils
- Hooks and Background Summery
- Grummen washed up at quillpond and speaks draconic instead of orcish
- Has limited memory of what came before he washed up, (viking/pirate/themes etc)
- am not interested in "your family was alive all along"
- Above Mentioned magic eyeball from the near death experience (spirit lantern)
- Belives he is chosen by Gruumsh
- NPC Relationships (as of start of season 1)
Summary
- Emon - she/her, Elvish Merchant
- Strongly Positive. Started liking Grummen out of a belief that rumours about the “forest monster” was suppressing bandit activity in the area. Over time developed an appreciation for having a reliable source for a large number of fish quickly for a low price. Developed into a fondness. Travel can encourage a person to look past appearances so she was quick to warm up to him.
- Grummen is utterly baffled by the woman but likes that she seems to like him. And likes that she seems to like the things about him that make the rest of the town look at him funny. He understands her as a strange kind of pirate/raider because her cart always has different stuff on it. He is also somewhat confused by her desire to give him silver for something as easy to get as fish but understands this is the custom.
- Garm Harris - he/him, human forest manager
- On good terms, “knows well'' is a bit much for either of them but have a healthy respect for each other’s boundaries and a strangely easy relationship based on very different reasons for enjoying cutting down trees. Grummen has been known to pitch in with the planned logging or “dangerous animal management” when asked. The loggers know to leave him be in the woods and while Garm is pleased to have Grummen about and finds him pleasantly refreshing, the loggers generally are wary of him. Hard to watch a person fell a tree in one stroke and feel ok about them having a short temper.
- Grummen actively likes Garm. Grummen feels like Garm gets him in a way other don’t, in the way a cat feels like a person who mostly ignores them has good manners. There is a way one handles wild things and wild places and Garm does that without looking at him funny. Grummen does not especially like being looked at funny all the time so the “good vibes bro” attitude of Garm sits well with him.

- Gianno - he/him, human priest and Council Member
- Strained at best. Reacts poorly to the fondness for Grummush, and there was an incident at the temple shortly after Grummen arrived. Grummen doesn't really “get” why Gianno reacts to him this way, but knows that he does so generally avoids him. Gianno might have mixed feelings about this as Grummen is the fly in his welcome to all ointment so this might be driven by some shame depending on what kind of person Gianno is. This has set up some...difficulties... with Forge ( cleared that with JC).
- Grummen has a private theory that Gianno has somehow tricked everyone into thinking his singing is good and is mad at gummen for figuring it out. Otherwise he pays little mind to him. But is constantly amused by Giannios discomfort around him given why he thinks Giannio is uncomfortable.

- Ivis Stramn (EE-vee) - she/her, elvish Innkeeper
- Decidedly mixed, (somewhat depending on her relationship with Mari) Used to see him mostly as a potential danger to the community and too temperamental to be trusted, but has seen Mari befriend Grummen quite successfully and has re-evaluated to mostly positive. Still isn’t pleased on the rare occasions he comes to the singing Stag because of the effect it has on her sales for the night, as many people suddenly find they need to turn in early, but is debating whether the problem is more about the townsfolk than the Orc and tried to be welcoming when he does show up.
- Grummen is uncertain about her. He doesn't understand why she’s friendly all of a sudden after the last few years. He suspects a trap of some kind. Elves are liars and deceivers, but Forge is an Elf, and Mari is an Elf, and Emon is an Elf all this is putting and that’s putting rather a wrinkle in what he grew up believing ( this comes from elves stereotypically fighting with grace and strategy rather than brute force). But the sudden inexplicable change means he thinks this is a trick/disingenuous.

- Murg- he/him, dwarfish chef and Council Member
- Completely neutral. Grummen likes to eat, Murk likes to sell food. This works out fairly well but that’s as far as it goes.

- Nencio Barthol- he/him, human businessman
- Is terrified of Grummen. Might be about the scars, might be that he’s afraid that Emon’s friendliness with Grummen could mean a bad end for him if he ever crossed her.
- Grummen is barely aware of Nencio. Nencio is functionally “Not Emon” at the Red star and that’s as far as Gummen’s concern goes.
- The Bosco Family
- Matilda Bosco- she/her, human, the eldest member of the family and Council Member
- No direct relationship but because of her relationship with her grandchildren is aware of the goings on they have with Grummen. This has resulted in a watchful positivity. After all, all kinds of people have come though this town over the years and people will surprise you. But it might be best if their parents didn’t find out.
- Grummen is sort of aware of her, is confused by the distant politeness.

- Leon Bosco
- Polite wariness. They have all these vulnerable children and there's a raider wandering around town. (I only saw the father listed with a name, so maybe it’s just him)
- Grummen dislikes them strongly. They were gifted with strong wild children and they want to stifle that exuberant embrace of challenge. He knows exactly why they have no scars, their cowardice and wretched hatred of their children must be too great to bear any glory and so none would grant them passage to being adults (this is possibly the adult in town whose lack of scars makes sense to Grummen).

- Kids
- Amanda, age 17
- Denisse, age 17
- Ariel, age 15
- Oscar, age 13
- Rafael, age 11
- It's likely a mix because there are several of them, but at least a few of them don’t believe he’s dangerous. When he first got to town they tried to befriend him. It didn’t work terribly well but they might not understand why the adults walk on eggshells. They have played tricks on him and challenged him to a fight when he got big and nothing bad ever happened. Besides, there was that time one of them almost drowned and Grummen fished them out of the water and didn’t even tell their parents they were playing where they weren't supposed to and scaring the fish like the other fishermen do. Most of his reactions to them seem to be approving and he laughs along with their tricks when other grown ups get mad.
- Grummen actively likes them but doesn't really know how to relate to them. He thinks of them as “little kids” for the most part so interprets what they do as “good play for children” learning to be brave, learning to take on challenges. Occasionally getting in over their heads and needing encouragement. (Grummen will volunteer to help people he thinks of as children, but helping adults without being asked is something he sees as sort of rude and sometimes as a kind of theft, he sort of understands that's what people around her do in their weird little society but it still makes him uncomfortable.).
- Kids
- Matilda Bosco- she/her, human, the eldest member of the family and Council Member
- The Zanatta Clan
- Margarita Zanatta - she/her, human matriarch and Council Member:
- Margarite likely shows intrigue toward Grumman and watches him closely when they share a common space, but has never shown active dislike for him
- Grummen knows they don’t like him, but thinks they must be good parents to encourage so much self reliance in their son that he spends most of his time alone in the woods.

- Francisco Zanatta - he/him, human, patriarch
- Francisco seems scared of Grumman

- Francisco seems scared of Grumman
- Antonio Zanatta, he/him, human, the son (has gift of foresight?)
- Curious but scared. The wandering in the woods to find places to read means he and Grummen encounter each other somewhat frequently. He’s nervous because of all the warnings from his parents, but has also seen that Grummen mostly cuts trees, fishes, and does not like gawkers, but has also seen the brutality with which he does those things.
- Grummen is somewhat confused by the boy who watches him from trees sometimes but has great respect for the boy challenging himself by being in the woods all the time. Is uncertain about the reading. Staring at paper is a strange hobby (grumman can read Draconic and Aquan/Primordial, but the idea of a novel is somewhat foreign)
