Ringing the vast Litiča (lee-tee-chah) Cliffs is a scattered, yet dense collection of neighborhoods collectively called The Underhang. With the city hugging the bay from the east, these enormous limestone edifices block sunlight from reaching the areas directly at their base until late afternoon, when they get a handful of hours of hazy orange sunset. While some prefer this ambiance — a great many of the city’s drow, duergar, and svirfneblin residents appreciate the reprieve it grants their sensitive eyes — over the years, the Underhang has earned a reputation as the closest thing the otherwise prosperous Evershoal has to slums. Nonetheless, the area also enjoys a vibrant — and extended — nightlife and has seen some modest renewal as the newest generation of born-Halleans fled staid family estates in favor of the relative freedom of these low-lying areas.
