Slip Houses are houses with multiple entrances and usually in places with few alleys exits. The homeowners have established a mutually beneficial relationship where the owners keep their doors unlocked for the city's ne'er-do-wells to use to get out of a tight spot with the Slatebearers or other criminals. 

Criminals have a vested interest to protect Slip houses and their owners, so generally accepted that no robbery or violence happens there. Doing either ends with other members of Evershoal’s underworld exacting swift direct punishment

The gullet is an old smugglers cove that is known for the jagged spears of stone that make navigating during the day treacherous and at night all but impossible. The Gullet fell into disuse after the tunnels running from the cove to Evershoal flooded. Parts of the tunnel become fully submerged during high tide or when rain slips through cracks of the broken stone into the caverns.
