House Alvaenis (awl-VYE-niss) is one of Illhad'or's ancestral houses. It traditionally governed over the central region of Illhad'or. Its members are primarily craftsmen and merchants, concerned with the trade and production of luxury and magical goods.
The House Premier holds the moonblade Shas'imila.
History
House Alvaenis was one of the nine founding houses of Illhad'or. It rose to prominence during the Morindal Dynasty due to increased ease of trade.
Society
House Alvaenis is generally regarded as a noble and trustworthy house. They are well-liked by most members of high society, who consider them law-abiding and fair traders.
Members of the House are most prominent in large cities where wealth is high enough to allow for a magical item market.
Relationships
House Alvaenis has been well-known in the past for maintaining a favorable relationship with each of the Houses of Illhad'or. In the current day, the House continues to place emphasis on its alliances and does its best to cater to the needs of each allied House.
House Alvaenis is a member of the North Sea Treaty pact, which outlines a 5,000 year old trade alliance between itself, House Amaaril, and House Nistaleth for the purposes of textile trade. The House also maintains several trade deals with House Athyelan.
The House aligned itself as an ally of House Sindelain until the year 1347.
The Sindelain Conspiracy
Under the guidance of Premier Elemissia Alvaenis, the House didn't notice – or willfully ignored – signs of House Sindelain's radicalization until the events of New Years Day, 1347. Taking advantage of this lack of suspicion, Former Premier Semille Sindelain made it a goal to kill or otherwise incapacitate Elemissia to prevent her retaliation. Thanks to Aurumvorax's warning, however, Elemissia was able to seek help from Sirryn and, instead, force Semille to resign from her Premiership.
