The party spent a few days in Malaka'jin, awaiting the return of the trackers. While Gan Jedi spent his time aiding the camp's hunting parties, while Zachariah Hallowhold and Jung-Won Oxhide worked together to rile up the locals and spread the word of Light and Shadow.
This caught quite a bit of attention, in particular from Witch-Doctor Jin'Zil; who invited the party along back to his chambers for a private conversation. There, a rather eerie course of events befell the party. Because while the old witch-doctor could certainly hear the merits of what the party was preaching, he gave them an ominous warning: Malaka'jin and its residents had many ties to the snake loa Dambala, a fickle being that did not well to having its domain encroached on.
The party tried to push back against it, though this only left the old witch-doctor spooked and all the more eager to send the party off.
Thankfully, it was only the next day after when the trackers returned to camp, and along with them Yuma Stonehoof was not too far behind.
They took some time to discuss their plans, and speak to the trackers. One by the name Seshi had seen the Grimtotem camp first-hand, and could provide the party with its location so they could head there themselves. According to him, the place looked fairly defended, and among them there seemed to be some kind of druid or geomancer keeping charge. It was hard to be sure.
The party soon left Malaka'jin behind and made their way in the direction of the Grimtotem camp. They travelled for most of the day, and sought out a safe location by nightfall where they could make camp. At least, it seemed safe at first. During the dead of night, a small scouting group of Grimtotem tauren managed to find the party there, and quickly they got the jump on them.
Thankfully, it was the party that came out on top from the fight. They killed and routed their ambushers, and managed to capture one of them alive for interrogation.
Begrudgingly, she introduced herself to them as Orida Darkcloud, and the party took the opportunity now that they had it to try and better understand what the Grimtotem tauren were doing and why. According to Orida, it was all a grand plan organized to try and reclaim Grimtotem territory from the Horde there in Stonetalon.
She had come herself, together a share of her tribe and with her father -- Chief Grundig Darkcloud -- all the way from the Thousand Needles to join together with the Grimtotem of Stonetalon. Her father was the one now orchestrating the plan, together with a few other of his chief peers, and behind them was a group of unknown benefactors whose identity was only ever revealed to a few.
By their description, the party quickly came to suspect it was the Twilight's Hammer at work.
The party spent their time working to convince Orida to work together with them, and were hopeful that in turn they could perhaps convince more of the Grimtotem tribe in the same way. For Gan's part, he was visited that night by the ghostly visage of Bwonsamdi; the Loa seemingly amused by the stir the party had caused at Malaka'jin, though mainly he sought to warn them not to meddle with Dambala's folk. That was a being even he was cautious of.
