In the Darkest Timeline Jack died in a resistance military attack gone wrong. The details are unclear but rumours persist that Johannes botched his side of the engagement and Johannes blamed himself in his suicide note. Bjorn survives and though older is still a force to be reckoned with.

After helping to prevent the return of Enyalius, Jack mostly returned to the simple life spending much of his time with his father (Jonathan Hare) and enjoying the woodlands around Kalsguard. However, he also spends a good amount of time at Duke Johannes Kal’s northern holdings, helping to train archers and marksmen.
There are occasional rumours saying that some of the time he spends in the woodlands he’s actually working in secret for a group of assassins within the Raven Guard - carrying out hits against high profile targets. That’s obviously nonsense though.
