The Rumours
Many people in Heaton have heard about 'The Crimson Shade'. This urban legend has become quite famous around city streets in the last century, and for all the wrong reasons.
The only thing that people can seem to agree on in regards to the Shade, is that he's a mastermind of heists, he plans his actions well, performs them flawlessly, and leaves zero to no traces behind.
Time and time again the Crimson Shade managed to escape being caught, which has led to big frustration from the Heaton City Guard. The only descriptors they are sure about is "Halfling, Male(?), Magic(??)".
Rumor has it that a lot of crimes are being blamed on the Crimson Shade without him necessarily being involved, as he is the perfect scapegoat to pin unsolved crimes on.
Other rumors tell of the Shade having been inactive for the last 3 years.
The Truth
Arzor Whistlecoin, the person, is basically a nobody. Arzor has no family, and people only know him as his persona.
Arzor is an Artificer, a mastermind of magic infusion. He uses magic in a very practical way: Infusing basic items with powerful arcane magic to serve him in his current job.
Using these infused items is the core of his success, they make sure that he's able to do his heists without leaving traces behind.
Arzor started stealing and burgling when he was a little Halfling of 16 years old, and has continued to do so throughout his whole life.
He never stays in one place for too long, and is very popular in the criminal world.
No one knows how many valuables he truly has. Through his years of burgling he also stole lots of papers, scrolls, and magical artifacts, which he used for his infusions. The rumor about The Crimson Shade being dormant are true: Arzor is growing old, and doesn't see why he would continue doing his heists, but rumor has it, that he might return for one final job.
The Heist
Arzor took part in the Heaton Heist, having been hired by Frink Vaultbreaker. Together with Gimlen, Viktor "Vitya" Kindratovich and Lockheart, the crew set out to rob The Bastion.
The break-in was successful, the escape less so. The party was transported to the Elemental Plane of Fire in a ploy by Vallia Wiseflare, and after tense negotiations, Arzor found himself under new employ.
