Background

Appearance:

Standing at a whopping 5’0, Argynn is a rather petite yet muscular female triton with vibrant light blue skin and long dark blue hair. She has what most call a  “resting bitch face” that features a somewhat scarred face and golden eyes. She has coral green fins where her ears are, her neck, the sides of her torso, and her arms. Her right ear/fin is mostly ruined and scarred. She prefers to don clothing that lets her body breathe and doesn’t push against her fins, usually wearing a short top and matching pants cut at the knee, and more often than not traverses barefoot.

She prefers to live by creed and independence rather than established laws of the land. As a mercenary of The Dusk Syndicate she doesn’t ask too many questions when hired for a job but still tries to keep a decent moral compass in honor of her mother.

BACKSTORY

Argynn doesn’t remember much about her early life, maybe it’s because she’s never had the best memory, or maybe she doesn’t want to remember. She was born to a single mother on a ship on it’s way to Unity in the midst of a great and terrible storm. It was said that her first cries were accompanied by a sourceless and spine chilling roar, but, to Argynn, that sounds like a load of horse shit.

Growing up in Pearl, Argynn has always been a calmer and quiet kid, preferring not to keep too much attention to herself. Most of the time she preferred to slip away from home to avoid the constant shouting matches between her mother and abusive father. Let’s just say that some Argynn’s scars are far older than others. Her mother, Dionna, was a well known tailor and her father, Culgus, was a former military captain now a high ranking Blue Jacket.

Culgus wasn’t a good spouse and never a good husband and Argynn couldn’t remember a day where he never yelled at her and Dionna, calling them rather crass names or physically abusing them. One day when Argynn was nine, he left for work and never came back, in fact no one saw him after he left. And things were good for two years, both she and her mother couldn’t be happier, and then Dionna fell to illness when Argynn was 11, leaving her to the care of Dionna’s friend, Tyreios Emblayn.

As Argynn grew she found herself to be naturally athletic but without a proper path for the future that she liked. She wasn’t much of a people person and she didn’t exactly feel like joining something controlled by high authority like the government or military. Sensing her frustration, Tyreios offered to let her join his mercenary company, The Dusk Syndicate, after some training, if she wanted of course. Seeing as she didn’t really have many options she liked, she took up the offer and began training. For years she took up sword and various weapon training with an untamed fury unseen from her before. If you ask her it’s just because combat is a good excuse to let out all of your anger and frustration.

As she grew older she began to have recurring nightmares of being alone in the dark depths of the ocean, no way of telling of what direction she swam or where the surface was. Sometimes she spent them helplessly swimming in complete darkness, the feeling that something was watching her, close, yet far. Sometimes she swears she sees a large shape, and sometimes, a roar that she’ll never forget. Due to these nightmares she cannot bring herself to submerge herself in the ocean’s depths alone without company otherwise she begins to panic. Lately these nightmares have become more and more frequent.

Start of the session

Yesterday, Tyreios invited you to a conversation in his office on the third floor of the Velvet Virtues in the Marinna. He told you that Syndicate have some small problems with Blue Jackets, and while they are investigating the accusation in question, you could help with this on another matter, that may or may not be connected to the problem.
“You see, a week ago our storage in the Safe Harbor was robbed. Nothing important was stolen, just a few things, among which are kojin shortsword (not a magical item, just a pretty sword crafted in the Koji Empire), and a wooden box painter red and yellow, which had some magical items there. Can’t tell you more, I haven’t seen what was inside before it was gone.
Anyways, we have a suspect, and I want you to hang around that guy for some time and check him out. You don’t need to kill him or interrogate him openly, nothing like that. I doubt whoever stolen the box would have it on all the time, and kojin shortsword is not something extremely rare, but it’s pretty expensive. Just hang around, maybe ask a few questions. I hope you will have fun along way, too.

The guys’ name is Tamerlan, he is a young elf who is with that annoying small pirate gang, Thundering Few. I have taken initiative and already agreed with their captain that one of my people will join them for a few days. They will be waiting for you in “The Kegs” in the Safe Harbor. Their First Mate, also and elf, Avarren, will be waiting you. They will probably do their business on one of the islands. I don’t need you to bring the sword or the box back, I just need an information and your thoughts about that boy and the Thundering Few.

Should you find yourself in trouble you don’t want to get into, just leave him be and go back to Marinna on one of the ferries. There is no need to risk.”

Thus, now you sit in “The Kegs” with Tamerlan and Avarren, waiting for their crew to tell them you are ready to depart to Ellaya.
