Humans are the short-lived yet plentiful chosen people of the goddess Verae that can be found in almost every corner of Maradul. Despite their rather simple anatomy and lack of inherent power, humans are arguably the most successful race in Maradul as far as their population and industry are concerned.
Humans are perceived by other races to be driven, resourceful, and infinitely adaptable. Malthun often treat individual humans with curiosity and playful superiority, but fear their capabilities for overgrowth and disdain their penchant to expand too quickly and without respect for the nature they displace. Callites see humans as unscrupulous and disloyal, though Ederans often celebrate human ingenuity and tend to work closely with them. Arritaku tend to criticize human diversity as the reason for their nearly incessant conflicts, both with other races and among themselves. Ganthar are often irritated by how much human emotion affects their decision-making and find themselves annoyed by the human habit of oversharing, while Srisari believe humans to be too secretive and private, constantly building webs of lies for little reason.
Relationships with Other Races
In general, humans are some of the most widespread races in Maradul, but also one of the shortest lived. Human's absolute land dominance forces most races to at least tolerate them, though the further one ventures from human settlements, the more they will find disdain, stereotyping, and ire for humans. Humans are generally stereotyped as impulsive, uneducated, resource-driven, and prone to excessive fecundity. The general human impulse to spread is often seen as irritating by other races, as humans will harvest natural resources to depletion before "homogenizing" the land to their tastes. Many races derisively refer to humans as "locusts".
