The most populous people in the Realms humans have long been an influential force upon both the Realms and the lands before, successfully trading upon their great numbers and adaptability to advance themselves into positions of power and authority across history. In the time of The Godswar the undisputed champions in that conflict were the human kingdoms of Terra and Kayithran, closely trailed by their bitter rivals, the desert kingdom of Telaar, and this unprecedented reach has allowed humans to have no small amount of influence over nearly every other culture to walk the Realms. Reflecting this, the humans themselves are a widely varied people, who most commonly hold greater ties to the places that they call home as opposed to what they were born as.
Humanity's broad reach has made them a staple feature in most of the realms, but there are a few places in particular that humans have historically called home. (Descriptions provided below are for inspiration purposes only, dont feel like you have to be beholden to them)
The people of Telaar are famed for their curiosity and ingenuity and their home has long been regarded as a center of culture and learning across the Realms. The people there tend towards smaller and slighter frames with dark colored hair and eyes, though it's not uncommon to see a Telaarii with unusually colored or slightly glowing eyes, a mark that is commonly seen in families where magic runs in the bloodline. Telaarii fashion tends to favor layers of flowing clothing fashioned of brightly colored silks and linens, well-suited to the intense daytime heat and cold night of their desert home.
The islands of Niafarsil have long been built around the trade of goods and culture that has long been the lifeblood of their people and the culture of the Farsillians has grown to reflect that. They have long been an open-minded and affable people, even during the days of the Godswar, though they have often been met with distrust from others due to the rumors of illicit activities and shady dealings that have long plagued the islands. Magic is less common in Farsillians, but not unheard of and is usually highly prized when it does appear in members of their families. Farsillian fashion has long been influenced by the many cultures their trading ahs brought them into contact with and as such has amalgamated into something that is both uniquely their own and yet simultaneously familiar seeming to many who travel there.
A largely agrarian culture in the days prior to The Shattering, Ruaan was much changed by the decades of assault from Hellas that plagued their Realm following that disaster. Ill-suited to battle as most of their people were, they turned to the one remaining bastion of power to defend them, the armies of the Church, which quickly transformed from force of war to one of defense in hope or preserving their people. Despite the eventual fading of the Church's power over the decades of demonic assault, this has had the unusual effect of making Ruaan the last realm in which worship of any God is not only un-shunned but commonplace as the people of Ruaan largely believe the Last Prophet of their Goddess, Ryuki Rosenthal, to have been responsible for delivering them from the Demonic menace.
Appearance wise the Ruaanen people are usually quite easy to spot in a crowd, most commonly sporting elaborately styled hair of any number of unusual shade and unusually brightly colored eyes. In the days before the Shattering, Ruaanen fashion was considered by many outside the land to be quite unusual, even verging on the outlandish, with many Ruaanens favoring loudly colored outfits decorated with embellishments and details tailored for looks over function. Follwoing the demonic assault the Ruannens didnt lose their love for fashionable attire, but the designs gradually shifted over the years to favor more and more embellishments suited for the hardships of battle.
Once the simgle most prosperous and advanced land in the world, Kayithran was lost in the aftermath of The Shattering only being rediscovered a little over three years ago after they had met a mysterious disaster that had wiped out most of the population and completely destroyed their home. Those who survived the cataclysm told a story of a very different Kayithran than that which had come before, one still incredibly advanced but a dystopia ruled over by the wealthy elite in all other respects. As such, little of what the other Realms remember of Kayithran's culture has survived with most of the knowledge of their incredible feats of technology having perished in the disaster that destroyed their realm, a disaster which seemed to spare primarily those of the horrifically oppressed and under-educated lower class.
The Kaytherans themselves had always been an unusually large people by human standards, a trait which has only become more exaggerated in their long isolation from the other Realms, with most Kaytherans regardless of gender averaging somewhere over or around 6 feet in height. Little has survived in the way of culture, tradition, or fashion amongst the survivors as most had little enough to begin with. What has survived carries with it an emphasis on utilitarianism and efficiency and as such many of the survivors have had difficulty adapting to what feels to them as the excesses of the other Realms.
Once the mightiest and largest human kingdom to rule in the days of the Godswar, Terra and its inhabitants have undergone a drastic change in the days since The Shattering. Shortly after the disater which tore apart them realms, a curse was laid across the Realm of Terra which cause its inhabitants to forget all they knew of the world which came before as well as everything of the magic which was once reviled by their people. Isolated from the outside world and without magic to aid them, Terra underwent a period of rapid industrialization with technologic innovation rising to replace the influence that divine power once held in their society. Even after the lifting of the curse and Terra's return to the Realms their devotion to industry remains, with many Terrans seeking for new ways to fuse the capabilities of magic and technology.
As their origins lie in what was once the largest kingdom in the lands, the humans of Terra are unquestionably the most diverse in appearance and abilities of their kind to walk the Realms. Owing to their developmental years having been spent in the presence of vast quantities of Iron, it's rare for humans born in Terra to have the potential to learn magic but in exchange for this most seem to possess an immunity to the toxic nature of the substance, a trait wholly unique amongst the realms.
