Description: is the goddess of light, the moon and stars, and liminal spaces. She is an ancient goddess, and belongs to both the Elven Seldarine and the Tuathan Church. While the elves do not normally worship gods, Sehanine has been a member of their paragons for as along as any elf can remember, and they look to her to epitomize the light that shines from the heavens during twilight and darkness. She is also an example of the natural order of things, the turning of the world, and the passage of stars. Some believe in her guidance to include the natural passage of an elven life, the journey, death, and transcendence.
Sehanine, along with other elven powers and spirits, became part of the Tuathan Church as the early tuathans fled through elven lands fleeing an unknown disaster to the south. The elves who sheltered and assisted the tuathans in their migration passed on some of their beliefs and philosophies, among those the ideals of Sehanine. Tuathans place more of an emphasis on Sehanine's ties to nature, mainly in the form of her influence over the moon and the mystical time of twilight.
Sehanine usually appears as a tall ageless female elf or human, although she has been know to appear in the form f other races. Her hair is normally a silvery white to gray depending on the phase of the moon. She usually wear silvery-white diaphanous gowns or and togas that seem to drift along wither her as she moves.
Dogma
Sehanine's faithful view life as a series of mysteries veiled by Sehanine herself. The spirits of followers discover new mysteries once they transcend their mortal existences. Sehanine unveils the next step through dreams and visions revealed during the reverie or dreams. Worshipers of Sehanine revere the moon, claiming to feel it's pull in their souls like tides in the ocean.
Unlike the followers of Shar, who view secrets as leverage and sources of power, the followers of Sehanine feel the secrets of the universe are more like mysteries to understand and gain wisdom and understanding from, sharing such knowledge with those capable of understanding it.
Priests serve as spiritual counselors to those who seek to embark on journeys in search of enlightenment so as to transcend their current state of being.
Legends tell of Sehanine's rivalry with Shar as being unreconcilable, a polarizing conflict of opposing viewpoints. Sehanine is the light in the darkness, sharing wisdom and knowledge as a teacher would, while Shar works to cover all in darkness, hoarding secrets and power as leverage, and reward for her faithful.
