Radiant Mandate

A zealous holy order that believes the stars are divine messengers and that the Maw is a blasphemous wound upon the celestial order. To them, light is sacred: a force of revelation, healing, and holy judgment. It is their sworn duty to contain or purify anything that threatens it.

Their cathedral-like cruisers are powered by radiant energy and crewed by clerics, paladins, and void-priests trained in rites of celestial sanctification. In recent years, their presence across the system has grown sharply, often appearing near sites of planar disturbance, astral convergence, or strange stellar phenomena. Some say they are guided by visions. Others whisper of beings of light, so-called stellar seraphs, seen during Maw surges and eclipses.

The Mandate is both revered and feared. Some see them as protectors against corruption. Others view them as fanatics willing to burn too much in their quest for purity.

Public Doctrine & Beliefs

The Radiant Mandate teaches that the stars are divine messengers — luminous voices in a celestial choir that sings across the void. They bring truth, healing, and judgment, and it is through their sacred light that order can be restored to a fractured cosmos.

At the heart of Mandate belief lies the Threefold Flame:

  • Light Reveals – The stars uncover hidden truths and illuminate the path of the righteous.
  • Light Redeems – Even the lost may be cleansed and guided home through flame and prayer.
  • Light Burns – That which defies the light must be purged, lest it spread its corruption further.

Followers often devote themselves to one of the Celestial Choirstar-patron figures believed to guide different aspects of the divine will. Among them are:

  • Valthren, the Sword of Dawn – Guardian of righteous fury
  • Ilyra, the Lanternkeeper – Healer and prophet
  • Thaziel, the Watcher Below – Sentinel of fading light, enemy of the Maw and patron of hidden sanctuaries.

While the Mandate does not forbid arcane practice, they teach that magic unanchored by divine purpose risks spiritual distortion — a belief that sometimes causes friction with arcane factions and secular authorities.

On many worlds, Mandate temples serve as places of healing, star-reading, and solace, decorated with radiant murals and harmonic chants. On others, especially Talereth, they are becoming centers of spiritual revival, calling people back to the light in the face of growing uncertainty. Tapping into widespread unease about the haunted moon Myrren, they have recently revised ritual schedules to better align with it's local phases.

“The stars shine not for themselves, but to guide the faithful home.”
