Location: Aboard Starlight, docked in Highwater on Alyndra Isle, Talereth
Setting
You stand at the edge of a moonlit expanse. The cracked marble flooring before you is suspended in space, silent. Towering pillars rise and vanish into darkness above.
Stillness reigns. Then, slowly, the stars overhead begin to fall like silent embers.
At the center of the scene stands a large pedestal, upon which rests an ornate scale of rune-metal and crystal.
- One pan of the scale holds a sword aflame — its cleansing fire steady, consuming. As each star above fades and falls, it seems brighter in the growing dark.
- The other pan cradles a stone carving: a veiled figure, kneeling beside a resting shape bathed in moonlight.
- The sleeper's eyes are closed, but their expression is distraught, restless.
- The figure is reaching gently towards the face of the slumberer — as if to wake them, or to offer comfort.
The scale wavers, delicately balanced, yet not quite stable.
Emotion
The dream is quiet, but taut with meaning. Judgment. Mercy. Fading light.You sense that you are being measured.
Stepping Forward
As you approach, a point of light sparks into being beside your hand… and becomes a single feather. Nearly weightless. Yours to place.
Making a Choice
As Rynerm gently places the feather in the pan holding the two stone figures, time seems to stop.
The drifting star-embers freeze in mid-fall. The crackling flame of the sword, still alight, becomes motionless.
Then, ever so slowly, the scale begins to shift... and Rynerm awakens.
