Short summary:
Give adventurers go on an incredible journey of self-discovery to track down the Demon, Marbas.
Full report:
At the behest of Syltorin Margaster, our party travelled north to track down information on Unknown known as Marbas. Unfortunately, this task proved to be more than we had bargained for. Our first encounter, less than a day's travel from First Landing, proved to be a good opportunity to stretch our legs. A party of Aberrants led by a sort of Orcish creature ran afoul of our ambush, and we cut them down. Regrettably, the Orc was only a vessel for an Unknown creature comprised solely of a head and organs. They managed to jettison themselves and escape, while we were determined not to be swayed from our current course.
Before stopping to rest of the evening, we encountered Unknown scouts from the the Watchers' Tribe. They informed us that they are not to allow anyone north of the Village, regarding even lands on the other side of the island to be under their protection. Upon further discussion, it was revealed that leadership is currently in the hands of a Kobold known as Tarka following the sudden death of Father Lightning, and it has been his decree to seal their lands. Still, through Syltorin's negotiations and Vhel's incredible cooking talents, we managed to convince the scouts to allow us passage north to defeat this Demonic threat. Two scouts were attached to monitor our efforts, and we parted ways the following morning.
The remainder of our journey proved uneventful, and we reached the cave that was allegedly were the Demon resided. It did not take long to reveal a strange illusion in place upon the ground, and that some presence currently resided within. After descending for what seemed like hours, we encountered a foe that would prove to be our undoing: a Gibbering Mouther, feasting upon the remains of another encampment. It immediately set us upon ourselves with its beguiling whispers, and swallowed us up one-by-one as we came to our senses. Unable to manuever and wounding ourselves before even confronting the beast, we were forced in to a desperate delaying action to recall out of the place. Bethany Claie was the last to go, and we almost lost her. Now she speaks of anotherbeing that she encountered inside the Mouther.
