Full Report

Our party departed First Landing past the Dessert of Rydess and towards the site simply known as the Halfling Church to meet with Mr. Sconosciuto.

On our way there, our curiosity and perhaps greed got the better of us as we passed through the debris left in the wake of what we later remembered were the remains of the floating City in the Sky. We found magical items simply laying about. Unfortunately (though unsurprisingly), the ruins are not without its guardians as we began being stalked and eventually were attacked by a spider-like spell-casting aberration called a Drider. Getting incredibly close to tragedy during the ensuing battle, we decided to stop pushing our luck and left the ruins post-haste.

When we got to the church, we found it in a worrying state of disarray with broken windows and shattered glass all around it. Through investigation and some divination, we found that the church's assailants were no longer around and that it was safe to explore. Our investigator friends were able to locate a hidden compartment leading us to the basement of the church were we thankfully found Mr. Sconosciuto safe and sound, as well as the unsettling visage of his pet, Brandy. We delivered the invitation and asked about the state of the church, with our Halfling host revealing only that the church had been damaged by a group of people that he used to know.

In the morning, Mr Sconosciuto treated us to baked goodies but informed us he would likely not be able to get to the festival if the church was left in the state of disrepair it currently is in since it would be too easy for the attackers to come back and "finish the job" of bringing down the church. Instead we offered to help gather the materials required to repair the church to allow him to attend the festival.

We set out to gather wood through the forest surrounding the church. We were soon surrounded by a thick fog and lost sight of Mr. Sconosciuto. Using my staff to pierce through it I noticed a group of fiends trying to sneak up on the party. Even having thwarted their plan, the fight was incredibly difficult, and were close to falling. In the end we persevered with serious, but treatable, wounds. Mr. Sconosciuto then returned and let us know that he had forgotten we could not always walk through the shadows as he did; an ability that he confirmed came from his devotion to the Sun-in-Shadow.

Setting the strange ability aside, we were able to finally arrive at a site where wood could be gathered. We worked for a few hours until we were beset by a group of undead skeletal creatures led by an undead halfling woman. In this instance however, Brandy's assistance turned the tide quite quickly. We noticed that the undead halfling woman was intent on talking angrily to Mr. Sconosciuto; they seemed to know each other. After the fight, we asked Mr. Sconosciuto if he knew the woman. He did not want to elaborate, though he did confirm that "she died, like everyone else."

After helping repair the church, we then escorted Mr. Sconosciuto to First Landing for the Lunar Festival.
