A Profitable Society
Morning breaks at FLOAT HQ with Mai snoring at her desk multiple reports underneath her, Zia wakes her up, while I quiz Bubbles about why in the hell there are 500 miniature house expense requests to which he informs me that we will be housing each of the toads. Because of course we will be. Whatever, the Guild will pay for it. I'll file it under...necessary operating expenses.
Bubbles lets me know that I shouldn't make Gino mad, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm a charming man.
Mai woke up at that point and thought we were leaving but no not yet we were just getting to the point where we would set up a meeting with this Gino. Zia recently came clean about some...personal issues wanted to make sure that she was transparent with how she was running the org in front of Mai.
We then contacted Gino through some sending stone Zia had in which we received this message "The port. Three days. At sunrise. On the docks, look for the drunkard. No more than five people with you, we'll... sail."
We set off and arrived without issue. Bubbles bought me a horse as well. He's the best. I named the horse Megan. She's a Stallion.
We split off one group getting Bubbles fruit and wait...no we all stuck together for this part sorry. We also quickly realized that none of us spoke Fey or Escapee's. I'll have to rectify this. The fruit lady(Catalina a Shoony) wasn't there, but some angry gnome(Mr. Plidwick) was. Then Racathra left for some reason? I don't know…it was a very confusing series of events. O here's my note to remember to bring watermelon for Bubbles on quests. Like I could forget.
Some gnoll woman came over, very large, very...trying to be intimidating? I don't know? She bit at me.
Gnoll woman claims Gino is a fair man and he wouldn't do anything without knowing both sides of the story.
We headed to the Goblin's belly for lodging, but it was closed for maintenance. Zia gave me a weird look when talking about friends. It was a very strange day, and it is about to get stranger.
After, we headed down the street to another bar/tavern and found lodgings and Racathra there. It was incredibly packed, but Racathra was able to get Bubbles some whatever so kudos to him for that.
It turns out Zia had no plans for our meeting with Gino, but she believes there can be a mutually beneficial agreement. We'll see.
Racathra rejoined us and said he had learned quite a few things but we shouldn't talk as there were a lot of friends of Gino's here and alluded to a large sprite at the bar being a friend? of his.
Then there was a loud scream
We reluctantly went to check it out and it turns out someone Bubbles knew, a Jinnix, had been murdered. We half-heartedly investigated but after some prodding and interrogations we didn't really have much to go off of, Racathra found a place in the freezer of the bar to preserve the body until we could properly dispose of it in a manner befitting their customs(they didn't want me to do burial rites) We had one main suspect, but I couldn't find anything to actually pin on him so let him leave. I doubt we'll ever see him again. But I'm certain he was responsible.
The large sprite is Gino's cousin. He does not care about Jinnix at all.
Jinnix died from a poison...and a large slash across her back that severed her subclavian artery, partial severing of the pulmonary artery and a separation of the spinal cord.
Gino's cousin then realizes who it was that got killed and then he begins to maybe care.
Ludmilla provided us room and board for the night. We explained to Bubbles some burial rites. I'm not sure he understood them fully but he means well.
Mai requested to be buried at sea if she dies.
Zia said some...tactless things to Bubbles and so Bubbles and I had a chat and smoothed things over
Continued with a note from Zia: I simply explained to him logically why we found his name for Karcaw funny. Somehow he took this as us laughing at him.
Anyways, we continued on to the business meeting with Gino and FAE. FAE or “Feudal Administration Enterprises” is a logistical support company for the nobility of the new world. We (FLOAT) offered our services working alongside them to add our contacts in first landing and the old world to their lists of services offered, in exchange for introductions to their network of contacts, and logistical support of their fleet of ships.
Negotiations went decently, with a few hiccups, but we offered enough for them to invite us along as a demonstration of our capabilities. We were offered passage on their luxury cruise liner providing security.
The cruise started with a funeral service for Jinnix that was rudely interrupted by a kraken attacking the ship. Knowing that the ocean wouldn’t dare attack me, I realized that it was somehow being controlled by an outsider and sure enough a submarine of an organization named DROWN was there with a device controlling it. Bubbles was able to remove the device and both the kraken and sub fled. We gave the device to
Gino for FAE to study, unable to decipher anything about it on our own. Gino’s son was grabbed by the kraken and after saving him Gino seemed very odd about us talking about his son. There’s possible questions that need to be answered about that relationship, but that is for the future.
The rest of the trip went by mostly uneventfully, with us covertly learning that we were escorting nobles of the fey dutchy, namely Lord Attys, Lady Vesper, Lord Asculith, and Lady Merehiki, to a war council with the Coalition in New Hezreth to begin talks about an alliance against the new airship threat of the Republic.
Private meetings were held with Lord Attys and Lady Vesper. Discussions went as expected when dealing with fey.
When we reached shore we were met by four of the Rainbow Knights to assist us in escorting the caravan to New Hezreth. The Gilded Knight, Green Knight, Purple Knight, and Blue Knight were all present.
The caravan was assaulted on all sides by hobgoblin forces. Most were swiftly dispatched by the rainbow knights, however siege equipment was placed within an anti-fey barrier preventing any of the knights from stopping them. Luckily for the caravan none of us were fey and we were able to go in and break the barrier to allow for the knights to finish off the remaining siege equipment. Special thanks to lady Merehiki for her subtle sabotage.
