Domains: Time and Light (maybe)
An entity similar to the Ancient Entities, but not usually mentioned alongside them, the Devouring Light is, nonetheless, a being opposed and confined by the Dragons. The Zar-Mothet Drow had a name that might refer to it: The Light that remains once all has perished. The following might be their representation of the Devouring Light, but the investigating party did not identify it as such: suns and stars being pulled towards a maw, their light being devoured away. A single long limbed silhouette strided along this sky, an undetailed black hole in a background of stars.
During the events of Monty Python Presents: Okay but seriously, where's that continent?, the party arrived at a Lighthouse experiencing a temporal anomaly. There, they witnessed Guild adventurer Remi in conversation with a starry being. Remi turned a loom and unraveled the temporal distortion. A Time Dragon, Khalidron attacked the party soon after. "Who dares fix what was left broken? The loom was bound sealed by the final thread," he said while preparing a breath attack. The party recalled immediately at that point.
Shortly afterward, temporal anomalies amd strange beings were reported all around. The witnesses of these events all said some version of: "The Loom is moving. The Beginning becomes the End."
Winterpost became the first city to fall to these beings, followed by Evenfall The Timeless Eight: The Selementai(And Friends) Investigate:. Later, Olc, the one responsible for the massacres, was slain, releasing a shard of the Devouring Light's power.
The Timeless Eight
"Before clocks were counted. Before seas learned tides. Eight Shadows crossed eternity. Eight shaped unfinished endings."
"First stood patient witness. Second weighed silent balance. Third measured future distances. Fourth carved through time."
"Fifth remembered forgotten worlds. Sixth gathered broken threads. Seventh arrived laughing first. Eighth walked quiet behind."
~ Quartet, The Tale of Olc (Rearranged and Abridged)
Eight Champions of the Devouring Light, each bearing its power.
The Seventh, Olc, responsible for the massacres at Winterpost and Evenfall, was the strongest among them. A practically immortal being who, at the event of his death, would simply pull a version of himself from a different time and reality to survive any and all injuries. Thanks to Guild adventurer Hecret's quick thinking, his trick was revealed, and his existence terminated. Olc contained within himself a shard of the Devouring Light's power. Banishing this shard took away Olc's time-bending ability, preventing him from replacing himself anymore. The Chained Jester became just as mortal as anyone else and the party quickly finished him off. As a consequence, however, a shard of the Devouring Light's power was released into the world.
Soon after Olc's death, his sister Ciudiu, the Eighth, made contact with the party. She declared she would not be like Olc. Instead, her and the other six would guide the futures of everyone in the New World to one of each individual's choosing.
Seals
Olc was a living seal of the Devouring Light until he was slain during Monty Python Presents: Threat Level Feylight: Time to Call in the Big Guns.
It is reasonable to believe the other seven are living seals too. As such, adventurers are requested to avoid combat with them. If combat is inevitable, containment should be the preferred outcome.
