Church of the Iron Gauntlet

The Church of the Iron Gauntlet is a loose but influential martial faith that unites worshippers of war gods, hunting deities, battle spirits, and patrons of personal strength under a common philosophy.

Rather than venerating a single divine figure, the Church encompasses followers of gods such as Tempus, Malar, Anhur, Taranis, and countless regional warrior deities. While their beliefs may differ, all adherents share a reverence for conflict as a test of character, skill, and resolve. To the Iron Gauntlet, combat is a sacred trial through which individuals discover their true worth. Victory is respected, but courage, discipline, and perseverance are often valued even more highly. Worshippers honor their gods through martial training, ritual duels, hunts, athletic competitions, and feats of endurance. Weapons, armor fragments, trophies from worthy foes, and battle-worn equipment are common offerings. Many shrines feature practice yards or sparring circles where acts of worship and training become one and the same.

The faith attracts gladiators, mercenaries, soldiers, hunters, adventurers, and anyone who believes strength must be earned rather than inherited. Priests often serve as trainers, battlefield chaplains, judges of honorable conduct, or mediators in disputes settled through ritual combat. While the Church celebrates the glory of battle, it generally condemns cowardice, treachery, and cruelty without purpose. To the faithful, the greatest honor is not merely to win, but to face every challenge with courage and unwavering determination.
