Vaazek is the only son of Kaias Zakarran, a rising businessman from Darna. Kaias originally founded a small mining consortium called Dauntless Excavations. In the past few years, Kaias’ wealth has increased exponentially because his crew uncovered a collection of hidden hot springs during one of their excavations. Kaias began to capitalize on the water from the hot spring.
Kaias built a spa around the springs, now named the Springs of Renewal, and began to amass a large fortune. Vaazek was left in charge of the business operations of the springs while his father worked to aggressively mine and collect resources from the mountains. Unlike his father, Vaazek tried to run the business as ethically as possible (butting heads with his father along the way). But even though Vaazek ran the business better than his father, many of the employees (especially in the mining arm of the consortium) still harbored feelings towards the family. Despite this, Kaias ruthlessly worked on them to gather resources and increase his wealth through trading with the pirates at @Blackden.
The springs make record profits every year, but none of the funds seemed to be put back into the facilities. In fact, in his probing, Vaazek has not been able to find where a lot of the profit has gone. Only his father has access to the books, but he doesn’t have the evidence to support his suspicion. For now, Vaazek manages the springs and aids his father in running the rest of the Zakarran estate.

Vaazek first met Relewiese Duskborn during his 5th visit to Outcast Island. He was scouting locations for a new hospitality venture when he encountered her. Originally, he thought their meeting was through divine intervention, but he later found out that Relewiese planned every detail of their first encounter. Instead of being put off by this, Vaazek was impressed. Each time he visited Outcast Island (whether for business or for relaxation), he would look for Relewiese. At first, she remained elusive, intentionally keeping herself out of his reach, but as he visited more and spent more time trying to contact her, they eventually met again.
A couple of years went by, with Vaazek visiting Outcast Island as much as he could. During one of his later visits, Relewiese talked to him about her job within the Church. She didn’t tell him about the Lord or the church’s true purpose. To her surprise, Vaazek was not phased. He used questionable business tactics, and he believed that Relewiese was not evil because her work did benefit people in a positive way sometimes.
While Relewiese keeps her feelings deep inside, Vaazek is more expressive. He has expressed his love for Relewiese and many times has asked for her hand in marriage, but she has turned him down over and over, always using the excuse of being unable to leave the island as her reason. No matter how many times she has said no, Vaazek knows that she wants to leave the island. He would do anything to be with his love and is desperate to free her from her prison.
