Fate Tokens 2.0

Fate Tokens 2.0 header image

The story unfolds whether you choose left or right. The world spins regardless of the choice. However, this is a story told by the perspective of the player characters, and they are the main characters. Why them? Is it destiny? Is it fate? Or just random chance? What made them the main characters? Whatever it is, they are clearly on the spotlight and being on the spotlight comes with few perks!

Fate Tokens (FT) are tokens awarded to players as an attempt to implement their “destiny” or “favorable luck” in mechanical terms. Similar to DM’s inspiration, but triggered by different factors.

In addition to Fate Tokens, we also have Fate Dice (FD). Which are special D4s that a player can have.

Fate Token properties

  • A player can have up to 10 Fate Tokens.
  • Fate Tokens transfer from session to session.
  • They can be given to others at a ratio of 2:1 (you have to give 2 for another player to receive 1).

Gaining FT

  • The player who writes sessions notes in Kanka in the journals' section receives 6.
  • The player, who does the previous-session recap, receives 4.
  • At the end of a session, players who conducted themselves appropriately according to the Rules of the Table receive 3 tokens.

Usage

  • You can use your Fate Dice to add them to an Attack roll, Skill check or Saving Throw (they can stack with FT).
  • You can add them to the damage of an attack or spell. On spells with multiple single instances (like Magic Missile), only one instance is boosted.
  • When you receive healing through a spell, class feature, or potion, you can add them to the total.
  • You can use them to subtract from a target creature's Saving Throw (only 1 Fate Die per roll)
  • You can use a bonus action to gain Temporary HP. The amount doubles at levels 8-14 and triples at levels 15-20.
