Welcome to the Lands of Arda

Thirteen fragments, beings with vast power, originating from the Divine Realm, traveled to this newly found planet. These fragments, later known as the major gods, live in the Divine Realm together with other fragments. They called themselves fragments as they believe they all originated from one, all powerful being, that created all universes, but then split. The thirteen fragments were close like siblings and always did things together. The planet when it was found was barren, without life or magic, but it had potential. The one that was first to spot this new planet, named Arda, did not hesitate to detach herself from the Divine Realm and imbue with the planet to give it life and magic. That was seen as a great sacrifice by the other twelve, who knew that their sibling Arda would not be able to return until this planet is no more.

The twelve gods split into three groups, which were later known as Gold (Good), Silver (Evil) and Emerald (Neutral). The groups stayed the same, except from three changes. Dominaria switched from Gold to Silver, Iskar from Emerald to Gold and Oromne from Silver to Emerald. The exact dates of those changes are largely unknown but they are approximated at the end of 1st Era or the early centuries of the 2nd.

From that change and onwards no shifts have been reported. The groups are as following:

Gold (Good)Silver (Evil)Emerald (Neutral)

Maldos

Zeriax

Vermillion

Andralte

Dominaria

Refelia

Iskar

Krevor

Laia

Luthien

Izalith

Oromne

Besides the twelve major fragments, lesser fragments travelled to the world of Arda for various reasons. Other seeking to gain followers, other intrigued by events, other simply by curiosity, others banished from their previous worlds or other seeking refuge from forces that want them perished. These Lesser fragments are not as powerful as the twelve gods and cannot sustain themselves by feeding from multiple plains. They are also referred as "local gods" and such local communities or events is what feeds them. They full extent of their power varies, but many estimate them to be equally strong as the first dragons. Lesser fragments are not widely known, even though they'd wish to be. Even if they could be amassing a large amount of followers, they prefer to be more subtle, to not incur the wrath of major fragments for stealing their energy. Some of the Lesser Fragments work as Patrons, offer power to individuals known as warlocks, in exchange of tasks or worship.

Backstory

Where did your character grow up? What place do they call "home" now? (could be the same or different.)

Grew up in the forest lands of Razorleaf in the north. I became agile and familiar in the elven architecture hopping across building tops and racing through the forests.

Who raised your character and how? What are these people doing now?

My mother and father were brilliant astronomers both. Taught me the means of star gazing and celestial history. They raised me well in a loving home outside the main city. They were killed by a necromancer travelling through town. He'd robbed my parents and burnt down the building before leaving me in the house to die.

How did your attribute scores affect your character?

My strengthened abilities were honed over the years of navigating my surroundings like a monkey through the trees or running across rooftops. I trained to become a holy warrior to spread righteous justice through beauty and truth.

What made your character obtain the class they have now?

Although vain and sensational, I genuinely believe my devotion toward all that is beauty can spread unanimous good throughout the lands. Because of this, I humbly travel the world spreading my beliefs and transforming the places I visit for the better.

What your character doing in recent years before the campaign's start?

Before joining my current party, I'd been travelling solo as a pilgrim spreading my devotion toward beauty and justice. Sometimes I'd work as a mercenary for justice, pursuing criminals and aiding townspeople as I went.

What motivated your character to leave their previous lifestyle and become adventurers?

My parents raised me to believe in the power of truth and justice. Through my own pursuit as a holy warrior, I found self worth and holy servitude in leaving a structured life as a warrior, instead focusing on travelling and spreading my good word as a pilgrim.

Which people are important for your character?

I met Sister Teddy upon bringing a young, dying boy into town. She saved him, and I immediately took an appreciation toward her gifted abilities to heal. Her ugliness disgusted me, and I'm now making it my mission to correct her inappropriately hideous nature. In this pursuit, I met Cornelia, a gifted wizard who may be able to help me correct Sister Teddy's appearance. If Cornelia studies long enough, she may be able to work some magic to fix Sister Teddy's appearance.

What connections does your character have to the other player characters?

I've found comradery and goals working with Sister Teddy and Cornelia. In our own time together, we stumbled upon Fenthick, a talented ranger with a proficiency in handling trouble. His hideous appearance has equally spurred me to make it my mission to find a worldly cure to correct the ugliness that spreads throughout the land.

Name a promise you have made to another player character that you would never break.

I will promise to do everything in my power to help the ugliness that has plagued Sister Teddy and Fenthick. They have inspired a new longing in me to find a means to rid the lands of ugliness like theirs.

If nothing happened, what short/long term goals does your character have?

My long term goals are to spread beauty, justice, and truth throughout the world. In the short term, I'm traveling and helping others as I can as a hired mercenary and agent of the crown. When worthy work appears, I make myself useful. When I'm not working on side jobs and requests of the places I travel to, I'm finding new means of creating beauty, transforming others into more beautiful beings, and finding an ultimate "cure" to ugliness.

What makes your character a likeable adventurer that others would be willing to have to risk their lives for?

Although a seemingly shallow elf, people find Vigo as a genuinely caring individual. His motivations at first seem ridiculous, but after getting to know why he pursues truth and justice in the name of beauty, people understand his intentions are to bring good to the world. He wants the best possible outcome for all good people, and genuinely believes this can best be accomplished through beautifying the world and the people in it.

What has your character done in the past, that they now deeply regret?

The biggest regret is not being in his parent's shop the day they were murdered. If he'd been there, he could have tried to prevent their needless murder. He was supposed to be there that day, and will always feel the sting of regret knowing he'd made a selfish and costly mistake.

Are there any people that would wish harm to your character and why?

Vigo has a target on his back from many outlaws and criminal organizations he's fought and dealt with. Vigo works in the name of the crown and for his Goddess, leaving those with ill intentions and criminal motivations to see Vigo as a common enemy.

Overview

[Type below:] Write a short (around 100 words) overview of who your character is. Content, written in orange letters like this, will not be visible when you are done. It's simply there to provide guidance]

I am Sylvanna Duskborn, a cultist devoted to Izalith as a facade and a Warlock who has made a pact with the dread Vampire Lord of Nightwatch as the truth. I hail from the Faceless City on Outcast Island. Alongside me is my twin sister, Relewiese, with whom I share an enigmatic and profound bond. Guided by the whispers and schemes of the Vampire Lord, my journey is woven with deception and unholy intricacies.

Early Life

[Type below:] Where did your character grow up? What place do they call "home" now? (could be the same or different.) [75 words max] The locations don't have to be named. It can be described. Growing up locations play a role on what your character knows about the area. Some races might have specific locations they came from. If uncertain, ask the DM.
I grew up in the Faceless City on Outcast Island, a place of ever-shifting identities and secrets. Now, I call a secluded dwelling on the outskirts of the city my home. The pall of death hangs over it as my allegiance to the Lord of Vampires has transformed the very essence of this place, drawing denizens of the night to play.
[Type below:] Who raised your character and how? What are these people doing now? [75 words max] name at least 2 characters, preferably 3-4, that played an important role in your upbringing.
I was raised by Eldress Morgana and Master Thorne, who are Relewiese and my parents and leaders of the Church of Izalith, which is a front for our true purpose, expanding the Vampire Lord's influence. My twin has been my rock. The calming wind to my tempest. Morgana currently leads the information-gathering arm of the church, while Thorne maintains his dominance as the Blood Ascendant over the Crimson Sacrarium, to which I belong as a Sanguine Enforcer. Relewiese walks next to me, always ready to reign me in when I act foolishly.

My frail physical strength meant that manual labor and direct physical confrontations were never my forte. Instead, I leaned heavily into my nimbleness and agility. My robust constitution ensured I was resilient, seldom falling ill or being easily wearied, a trait that served me well. My true assets lie in my intelligence and my charisma. I quickly mastered ancient and vile rituals demanded by my patron while being able to influence and charm those around me, even those who saw me as a foe.

Defining Events

[Type below:] What made your character obtain the class they have now? [75 words max] Why did you become a Fighter and not a Barbarian? What incident pushed you to your class choice?
Within the cult, whispers circulated about Nightwatch's chosen disciples. I yearned for his beckoning call. One night as I was sharpening sacrificial blades, I cut myself. As the first droplet of blood hit the ground, a chilling and mesmerizing voice resonated through my consciousness. It declared me worthy of an unholy pact and extended a covenant brimming with profane power. Without hesitation, I accepted willingly, becoming an instrument of the Lord of Nightwatch, and fully embraced the essence of darkness that came with it.
[Type below:] What your character doing in recent years before the campaign's start? [75 words max] In the last 2–3 years, what had your character been doing?

[Type below:] What motivated your character to leave their previous lifestyle and become adventurers? [120 words max] Nobody decides to endanger themselves without good reason. Were you forced to leave your previous lifestyle? What happened that changed you from a safe job, like a farmer, to an adventurer?
My devotion as a cultist dedicated to the Lord of Nightwatch was unwavering, with rituals and chants echoing through the hidden chambers of the Faceless City. I believed he could provide all I needed, but my thirst for power led to me plotting to challenge my own father for his mantle. Sensing I was about to do something stupid and brash, my twin sister convinced me to take a leave of absence and journey with her. Where will we go? Who knows?
[Type below:] What short/long term goals does your character have? [75 words max] If the world continued in its peaceful state, what would you'd be working towards for?
I seek to gain more power from my pact with the Vampire Lord in the short term.
In the long term, I wish to join my sister in becoming Vampires.
If the world were at peace, I would follow my sister wherever she went but try and convince her to journey to Nightwatch.

In the twisted alley of Faceless City, I made my indomitable presence felt. I charmed and ensnared key figures who had been marked by a rival and located by my twin, drawing them into my web of blood and malevolence. Intoxicated by my allure, they became thralls I sacrificed to the Vampire Lord. My alliance with the Lord of Nightwatch made me an indispensable bridge for those in the City wanting access to forbidden rituals and dark powers. Furthering my control, I inaugurated the Midnight Auctions, where the city's underbelly traded secrets, items, and people. Every sacrifice made and maneuver executed only enhanced the reputation of Sylvanna Duskborn in the criminal world of the Faceless City.

Overhearing conversations from those who visited Outcast Island, I heard of the vast lands beyond the prison that was Outcast Island. The confinements of this wretched place have chafed at my dark spirit for far too long. The dark pact with my Patron is a constant reminder of the power I wield and the destiny that beckons. I am tired of the criminal underworld of the Faceless City. My ambitions are greater, and my desires are darker. Beyond these shores is a world where I can spread the shadow of Nightwatch's dominion far and wide.

Relationships

[Type below:] Which people are important for your character? [75 words max] Who does your character consider important at the start of the campaign? Name at least 2 other people
Relewiese, my twin sister, who is always there to calm me down when I start to lose it, and Master Thorne, my father and the one who taught me how to unlock the chaos inside me. Coincidentally, their roles in my life contradict one another. Ironically, I sought to overthrow one who I had much affection for.
[Type below:] What connections do your character have to the other player characters? [175 words max] communicate with the other players and create two positive connections with two other player characters. Could have been friendship, coworkers, family relation or any relation that results in some degree of trust
My twin sister, Relewiese, has always been my anchor to reality throughout my life. Our bond is more profound than most, with trials and experiences intertwining our fates. She was the bridge that introduced me to the Vicar, a devotee of Oromne. While his faith and discipline contrasted starkly with my complex relationship with my Patron, we showed each other begrudging respect born from our ancestry and moral similarities. Over time, we may or may not have helped each other execute nefarious deeds through a mixing of divine and malevolent powers. Two siblings touched by the shadow of Nightwatch alongside the Hunter's Blade.
[Type below:] Name an agreement you have made to another player character that you would honor. [75 words max] Communicate and agree on what agreement your character has made to one of the two other characters (you have connections to), that you wouldn't break.
To Relewiese, I swore that no matter how deep I delve into the realm of darkness, I will always do my best to protect her.
[Type below:] What are some good personality qualities that your character has as an adventurer? [75 words max] To ensure that the group doesn't have problematic characters everyone else will hate, tell us why would others trust and like your character as a fellow adventurer
It is essential that we, as Changelings, work together. The world as a whole sees us as a threat, so the group I journey beside are my only allies as I am their ally.

Flaws

[Type below:] What has your character done in the past, that they now deeply regret?[75 words max] This is more for plot hooks. It could be a missed opportunity or something they feel bad about.
The only thing I regret is causing my sister to have to leave the cult with me.
