Welcome to the Lands of Arda

Thirteen fragments, beings with vast power, originating from the Divine Realm, traveled to this newly found planet. These fragments, later known as the major gods, live in the Divine Realm together with other fragments. They called themselves fragments as they believe they all originated from one, all powerful being, that created all universes, but then split. The thirteen fragments were close like siblings and always did things together. The planet when it was found was barren, without life or magic, but it had potential. The one that was first to spot this new planet, named Arda, did not hesitate to detach herself from the Divine Realm and imbue with the planet to give it life and magic. That was seen as a great sacrifice by the other twelve, who knew that their sibling Arda would not be able to return until this planet is no more.

The twelve gods split into three groups, which were later known as Gold (Good), Silver (Evil) and Emerald (Neutral). The groups stayed the same, except from three changes. Dominaria switched from Gold to Silver, Iskar from Emerald to Gold and Oromne from Silver to Emerald. The exact dates of those changes are largely unknown but they are approximated at the end of 1st Era or the early centuries of the 2nd.

From that change and onwards no shifts have been reported. The groups are as following:

Gold (Good)Silver (Evil)Emerald (Neutral)

Maldos

Zeriax

Vermillion

Andralte

Dominaria

Refelia

Iskar

Krevor

Laia

Luthien

Izalith

Oromne

Besides the twelve major fragments, lesser fragments travelled to the world of Arda for various reasons. Other seeking to gain followers, other intrigued by events, other simply by curiosity, others banished from their previous worlds or other seeking refuge from forces that want them perished. These Lesser fragments are not as powerful as the twelve gods and cannot sustain themselves by feeding from multiple plains. They are also referred as "local gods" and such local communities or events is what feeds them. They full extent of their power varies, but many estimate them to be equally strong as the first dragons. Lesser fragments are not widely known, even though they'd wish to be. Even if they could be amassing a large amount of followers, they prefer to be more subtle, to not incur the wrath of major fragments for stealing their energy. Some of the Lesser Fragments work as Patrons, offer power to individuals known as warlocks, in exchange of tasks or worship.

Overview/Backstory

When I was young, I lived in the mountains with my family and tribe. We were attacked by a much larger force, who sold into into slavery working for a circus. I learned juggling and acrobatics, but a few years ago I became strong enough to fight back and break out. I ran away, and make my living as an adventurer. My people were proud warriors, and I strive for glory in battle for myself and my clan, or now my party. I am not impressed by wealth and prestige. Show me your skills in battle or other areas if you want to impress me.

Events

My group made it past the first floor, defeating the frost giant and earning the special skills he imbues. I have also come across a magical axe called Deathly Lucky, and a magical beer keg that can be used as a weapon. I also killed a ballywog while riding a horse.

Status

Axe Hammer's Deathly Luck finally ran out when he missed a target so bad that he died of embaressment.

Backstory

Where did your character grow up? What place do they call "home" now? (could be the same or different.)

Belethor grew up as a citizen of the Eratus Empire. He came of age on his parent's grain farm constantly being told of the glory and righteousness of the empire.

Who raised your character and how? What are these people doing now?

Father- Unknown Mother- Gertrude "Gerdie" Endoxos. Both are still at home working the family farm.

How did your attribute scores affect your character?

Belethor is a physical specimen if there ever was one, with exceptional strength and constitution. From the age of 8 he worked the fields from sun up to sundown, and as he he grew older he found that much of the work others needed oxen to do, he could do on his own. The long times spent working in the fields did not dampen his spirits, as he regularly conversed with his parents and any hired help that was working at the farm.

What made your character obtain the class they have now?

Belethor always felt he was called to do something greater than farm work. He began to notice a burning in his chest, a certain warmth that filled him whenever he would offer his evening prayers to Arzen. That warmth was similar to the heat generated in his muscles during hard work, so he soon put the two together and knew he must dedicate his efforts to whatever Arzen would have him do.

What your character doing in recent years before the campaign's start?

He has been volunteering for any missions available, to help him achieve his dreams of rising in the legionnaire ranks.

What motivated your character to leave their previous lifestyle and become adventurers?

Belethor could no longer ignore the call of adventure and duty. Every swing of the sickle he imagined he was felling enemies. He would imagine the sweat pouring off his brow and down his back was a trickle of blood from some minor injury sustained in a glorious battle.

Which people are important for your character?

Any of his superior officers and his family. His former sweetheart Sarilana, whom he left behind when he joined the legion.

What connections does your character have to the other player characters?

Under construction

Name a promise you have made to another player character that you would never break.

Under construction

If nothing happened, what short/long term goals does your character have?

To rise as high as possible in the ranks of the empire and achieve glory for Arzen.

What makes your character a likeable adventurer that others would be willing to have to risk their lives for?

Belethor is a fountain of positivity, always trying to encourage others to achieve greatness.

What has your character done in the past, that they now deeply regret?

He knows his parents expected him to take over the farm, but the call to become something greater was too strong to resist.

Are there any people that would wish harm to your character and why?

No

More optional plot hooks:

  • My character's lineage might not be what I think it is. -This one will be unknown to you as player as well. Do not add details-

Overview

[Type below:] Write a short (around 100 words) overview of who your character is. Content, written in orange letters like this, will not be visible when you are done. It's simply there to provide guidance]

Dealing in secrets and information, especially that which was overheard, has been Polyglot's life. She has followed Dominaria's tenet of thievery; not of material things (mostly), but of knowledge. Her obsession of learning languages that started early in life turned into an integral part of her business, learning mother tongues of races she wanted to do business with to try to curry favor with them. Though she is not a devout follower of Dominaria herself, Alexandra uses the information at her disposal to safeguard the faithful of Dominaria from those who might do them harm, as a favor to the parents that raised her.

Early Life

[Type below:] Where did your character grow up? What place do they call "home" now? (could be the same or different.) [75 words max] The locations don't have to be named. It can be described. Growing up locations play a role on what your character knows about the area. Some races might have specific locations they came from. If uncertain, ask the DM.
Alex grew up with most essentials, and those she didn't have she learned to steal. Her family lived in a complex of many households, often interacting with other families who had followers of Dominaria, due to her parents. She put up with it. Running around between her different "businesses" is what she now considers home.
[Type below:] Who raised your character and how? What are these people doing now? [75 words max] name at least 2 characters, preferably 3-4, that played an important role in your upbringing.
Her parents, Max and Beatrix, raised her, but were usually working and not at home to take care of her. Because of this, she would go around town talking to (and stealing from) various people, and trying to learn languages she was hearing but couldn't understand. She would often team up with other kids to play distraction while someone stole something. One kid she would do this with regularly was Niko, a human.
[Type below:] How did your attribute scores affect your character? [175 words max] How did your strengths and weaknesses formed your life? For instance, did a 20 STR push you into manual labor, as you could handle it easily? Did a low CON make you often sick and had to travel to the capital for medicine? Did a high CHA make it easy to make friends?
While Alex was ok at talking to people, she would consider her strength is eavesdropping, stealing, and being flexible. When there was a difficult target, she would climb anything nearby to get a vantage point or better position to execute her plan. Due to this, she neglected her physical training, being weaker than most average people.

Defining Events

[Type below:] What made your character obtain the class they have now? [75 words max] Why did you become a Fighter and not a Barbarian? What incident pushed you to your class choice?
A combination of her love of learning languages, her self-taught skills of sneaking around and stealing things to get by, and overall using the nature of her race to trick and deceive people led her to the roguish arts. She was also hired and taught by actual rogues wishing to make use of her services so that she might provide better business.
[Type below:] What your character doing in recent years before the campaign's start? [75 words max] In the last 2–3 years, what had your character been doing?
She has run a translation service as a front, being an information broker behind the scenes. People pay money to have things translated, good money to have them translated in secret, and even better to know those secrets.
[Type below:] What motivated your character to leave their previous lifestyle and become adventurers? [120 words max] Nobody decides to endanger themselves without good reason. Were you forced to leave your previous lifestyle? What happened that changed you from a safe job, like a farmer, to an adventurer?
Information of business to be had and riches to be made from overseas became too tempting, and Alex has decided try to capitalize on an opportunity afforded by Captain Monday to bring her business the mainlands.
[Type below:] What short/long term goals does your character have? [75 words max] If the world continued in its peaceful state, what would you'd be working towards for?
Alex wants to gain information and give that information to the people who pay top dollar for it so that she can gain wealth and live a comfortable life.

Relationships

[Type below:] Which people are important for your character? [75 words max] Who does your character consider important at the start of the campaign? Name at least 2 other people
Niko, her childhood friend turned merchant, has helped her in many ways, and she wishes to repay that. She has been told to follow Xavier, her abandoned brother, and to report his actions to their parents, as well as not give information on their relationship.
[Type below:] What connections do your character have to the other player characters? [175 words max] communicate with the other players and create two positive connections with two other player characters. Could have been friendship, coworkers, family relation or any relation that results in some degree of trust
Alex has made deals with Relewiese in the past, and "trusts" her enough to continue working with her. The same goes for Garak, who has provided her with jobs in the past. Her trust is enough to keep them within the throwing distance of a dagger.
[Type below:] Name an agreement you have made to another player character that you would honor. [75 words max] Communicate and agree on what agreement your character has made to one of the two other characters (you have connections to), that you wouldn't break.
In the past, after a few interactions, Alex made a deal with Relewiese that if someone wants information that the other has, payment must be made in more information. Both of us being information brokers means this exchange benefits both parties.
[Type below:] What are some good personality qualities that your character has as an adventurer? [75 words max] To ensure that the group doesn't have problematic characters everyone else will hate, tell us why would others trust and like your character as a fellow adventurer
Alex does not like arguing, so she will find the fastest route to stop an argument, even at the detriment to herself, unless it will severely harm her.

Flaws

[Type below:] What has your character done in the past, that they now deeply regret?[75 words max] This is more for plot hooks. It could be a missed opportunity or something they feel bad about.
She is extremely selfish, especially with her wealth. Every action she takes that is not directed toward ending an argument is intended to advance her wealth.
