Treasurer's Log 005 - My first heist!

December 1, 2023

5 Keiari, 951

We assembled on the ship, and Zayne and I told them what we saw on the other ship. We spent time trying to figure out a way to deal with the situation. We know that they're using a ritual circle to bind a spirit, not use it as fuel or anything else. Just a binding. So Ras and I agreed it's probably a good idea to disrupt it and stop it. It likely means that they're preparing for something big in the future.

After some deliberation we've come up with a stupid plan: Caliese will drop a bomb (Ras was teaching it to drop glitter on us for the past month or so, finally its useful for something other than ruining my clothes) on them, and we need a distraction. I suggested a few things, but in the end it seems like I'm going to be hurling a bag of shit or something across onto their boat. Maybe just throwing something that makes a big bang and a lot of light to daze them...

The problem is we're running out of time and we haven't really considered what the follow-up will be. I'm doing a ritual in order to make that flashy-bangy thing, I asked Zayne to collect something from the target crew in order to have something to focus in on. He's been stupidly good and useful at everything so far, so at least I can use that to my advantage.

((Outside of Rameera's knowledge Zayne actually failed monumentally, he had to transform into Zaena in order to not get horribly caught but just barely managed to nab some wood chips from the hull and some other bits and bobs))

((10 minute break))

We took one of The Azure Zenith rowboats to paddle our way over to the boat, or near enough. The plan was shaky as could be... While rowing we were still debating where the land and what to do. I threw the flashbang and it did a damn good job going towards its intended target. I climbed up the side of the boat onto the deck and got immediately caught by the guy doing the ritual. I tried to quickly bluff or make a joke saying that he's getting fined for making a boring ritual circle, and he immediately threw a jar at me, with a gem inside.

I tried to catch the thing but messed up. It hit the back of my hand and shattered against the deck of the ship, water seemed to make a figure before splashing into the ocean below. Spirit nonsense, obviously. Ras immobilized one crew member, Zayne snuck into the shadow. Meanwhile I had another jar smashed against me, and I tried to knock it out of his hand with my blade but wasn't able to stop him. The jar shattered and I was buried in sand. I've managed to be so super useful. The one thing I'm good at. The one thing I'm proud of and think I can bring to the crew, and I'm really showing it off. Really making them glad that I'm here. I'm just a stupid piggy bank for them at this point - but then I ended up spending  some of those resources I brought for that bomb to hit, and then didn't capitalize on it. The past few days have really made it clear I should stop playing pirate and pretending I belong.

Zayne bashed and stabbed a pirate to death, Ras stayed fully under control. I was stuck. The weird summoner dude advanced on me and I did all I could think of, with my whole body trapped in the sand... I took a mouthful of it and spat it in his eyes. He stumbled out of the way but it kept my throat unslashed. Ras had the spirit release me, while Zayne tried to reposition himself to help. I ran forward and kicked the candle of the ritual circle at the weird guy, telling him "You should have paid the fine"... Which was a clever line in my head, rather than out loud.

The rope ladder to the ship was cut by Zayne to prevent reinforcements from coming back. In the most bizarre turn of events, when one of the pirates yelled for help... Ras pretended to be a floozy, or something, and acted like... they were having a romantic rendezvous? What in the hell was this fight. The weird guy saw that the tides were turning against him and decided to just leap off the ship into the water, conceding. No idea where he plans to go, but hey. It's done.

In the hold there wasn't a whole lot. A bit of cash and gemstones taken from the people they extorted, but not an extensive amount. We got some medical supplies, food, and other mundane items. We then decided to torch the ship, and head back to the Zenith. Ras gave the extra money to The Captain, deciding on whether we should give it back or keep it. We feel its likely that he would.

((We get to increase a skill by +1))
