Continuum Calendar

2 Sun Dance, 9114 Fifth Age

The Continuum Calendar is a method of systematic time-keeping, which was originally developed in The Floating City of Thouran (using ancient Mythar records and temporal tracking techniques as a basis) and later adopted by the Empire of Bastile during the early-mid Fourth Age.

As Tolrian influence began to spread to the distant continent of Osira, various civilizations like the Serrakhan Sultanate, Earth Kingdom, and Y’azi Empire would adopt this time system to better understand the chronological history of the world... Much of which had been previously lost to the sands of time.

It is worth noting that while the Continuum Calendar keeps a linear record of time passed, the Prime Plane's temporal flow has been effectively 'reset' three times during the First Continuum Crisis, the Second Continuum Crisis, and Third Continuum Crisis... This would mean that while nearly 9,000 years (AA) have passed on the calendars record, the evolution of life and civilization upon the material world doesn't necessarily reflect this recorded scale. For more information on this, please refer to The Infinite Continuum timeline record.

📅 Structure of the Year

The Continuum Calendar divides the year into 5 equal months, each consisting of 60 days, for a total of 300 days per year.

📘 Month Breakdown

Month Name Days Season
Dawn Star60Spring
Sun Dance60Summer
Midyear60Fall
Frostfall60Winter
Evening Star60Late Winter / Pre-Spring

Each month marks a seasonal shift across Tolria and Osira, and most cultures align their rituals, planting, hunting, and travel according to these transitions. Despite regional differences, this calendar is widely observed across empires, civilizations, tribes, and even mystic orders due to its celestial origins.

🌕 Moon Cycle

Only one moon is officially charted in the Continuum Calendar:

  • Name: Eldar’s Eye
  • Cycle: Full moon every 30 days
  • Color: Purple-Silver
  • First Full Moon Offset: 0 (it begins on the first day of the year)

This means each month features two full moons, and the moon is considered a guiding celestial force—especially for Spirit Seers, Water-Rifting sages, druids, and those attuned to the Spirit Plane.

Quarter moons are visible due to the 30-day cycle being divisible into four 7-8 day phases. Many cultures mark:

  • First Quarter (new beginnings, rites of initiation)
  • Full Moon (ancestor veneration, lunar festivals)
  • Third Quarter (reflection, endings)

📆 Days of the Week

The week is divided into 6 days, cycling continuously:

  • Morndas – Day of beginnings, often for work or ritual grounding
  • Tivdas – Day of trade, travel, and civic duties
  • Middas – Midweek observance, sacred to balance and neutrality
  • Thadas – Day of martial training, trials, and the sun
  • Friedas – Day of magic, rest, or study (often observed by mages and monks)
  • Sundas – Day of reverence, reflection, or spiritual attainment

Weeks do not reset with months, making date tracking linear across the year.

🌸 Changing of the Seasons

SeasonBegins On
SpringDawn Star 1
SummerSun Dance 1
FallMidyear 1
WinterFrostfall 1

These season changes are accompanied by major festivals and druidic rites, especially in regions where elemental alignments are honored (e.g., The Earth Realm, The Sun Realm, The Air Realm, and The Sea Realm). There exists a transitionary period of late-winter and early-spring during the final month of Evening Star.

🏛️ Named Years – Epochal Markers

Throughout history, some years are marked as pivotal due to events that shattered, reshaped, or redefined the world.

Year Name
0 AA Solis Singularity
3,000 AA First Continuum Crisis
6,000 AA Second Continuum Crisis
9,000 AA  Third Continuum Crisis

The current era (Fifth Age) begins after 9,000 AA, shortly after the Third Continuum Crisis, with year 9114 AA being the current.

🌌 Time Across Planes

Time flows differently in other planes (e.g., Spirit Plane, Plane of Khaos, The Netherveil, Plane of Oblivion, and Plane of Helion), but the Continuum Calendar remains a Prime Plane constant. Spirit Seers and Riftwalkers often track "convergent days" where planar echoes align with lunar and seasonal markers by using the Ether to attune with Riftways.
