In the waning years of the Second Age, the world still trembling from The Planar Rapture—a god-titan war that reshaped the very structure of the Prime Plane. Elementari corpses smoldered across continents, mountains had been raised by falling titans, and the ley-lines of reality had scarcely begun to settle when a deeper wound was opened.

At the heart of the Prime Plane, Неизвестно stood as the axis of all time and ordered existence—a relic forged during the Неизвестно, woven by the Неизвестно (specifically Неизвестно) and protected by the Неизвестно to hold the threads of causality in place. It was entrusted to Valekith, Archmage of the Mytharil Empire, by Emperor Ezekiel, who charged him with defending the crystal against any force, mortal or divine.

But ambition would outgrow his oaths. And Valekith’s desire for divinity knew no bounds.

The First Continuum Crisis

Valekith, under the pretense of protective research, began secretive experiments upon the Continuum Crystal, seeking to elevate his form to that of the divine through manipulation of raw Rift Energy. Driven by a dream of self-deification, he used forbidden Rift Magic rituals to split the crystal deliberately, fracturing it into Infinity Shards. These shards, still burning with the resonance of creation, were scattered across the Prime Plane—though one remained in his possession.

This act tore open a rift in the continuum, birthing a wound so deep that even the titanic scars of the Planar Rapture paled beside it. From that wound emerged the Eyes of Stars—the first of the Revenant Titan, a thought-born progeny of Неизвестно, the watcher in the abyss. It did not rage, it did not speak—it remembered. And in remembering, it unmade.

Mountains crumbled. Cities vanished into screams. Dragons, angels, and gods alike were devoured indiscriminately by its stare. It moved through reality like a knife through parchment, severing continuity, pulling entire landmasses into the void.

A Duel of Fates

Ezekiel, betrayed and broken-hearted, confronted Valekith upon Floating City of Netheril, as the sky above had begun to fracture. Their duel clashed with the death throes of reality, as all tore apart around them—kin battling above a world unraveling.

In the final moments of battle, Ezekiel severed the Hands of Valekith, ending his ritual—yet not his will.

Using the last of his voice, Valekith activated the Soulmonger Crystals beneath the city, triggering a final rift cascade. Netheril, once the capital of arcane civilization, was ripped whole into The Netherveil, vanishing from the world and leaving a black storm in its wake. Valekith disappeared with it, carrying his shard and vanishing from time’s record.

Divine Intervention

The Pantheon of Primus, witnessing the unraveling, intervened directly. With combined efforts and immense sacrifice, they resealed the rift, binding the Eyes of Stars back into the broken crystal—but the Continuum could not be fully mended. With shards still scattered, the weave of reality was left permanently thinned.

Whole regions were lost and pulled into the abyss, never seen again. The Mytharil Empire also fell into ruin, with nearly all its once proud floating citadels pulled into the singularity. Many divine beings who stood in defense were either slain or simply erased. It is said that some became twisted eldritch echoes within the Void of Infinitum, corrupted by the maddening dream within.

Legacy: The Cycle Begins

Thus began the Infinite Continuum—a cycle of Creation, Destruction, and Renewal, destined to repeat every three thousand years as the crystal, once whole, continues to splinter.

The Third Age, later known as the Age of Elves, dawned in the ashes of that loss. The elves, once-sheltered by their proud draconic creators, began to inherit what remained of the Prime Plane’s knowledge. The world’s memory would fade, as it always does—but the wound of Valekith's betrayal continued to echo through the following ages by Malekith's shadow.

The crystal remains broken.
The shards remain lost.
And somewhere beyond the veil,
the Dreamer begins to stir.
