The origins of elves trace back to the dawn of the Third Age, known as the Age of the Elves (see: The Infinite Continuum). During this era, the world was sculpted and shaped by True Dragon, who emerged victorious from The Aeonic Struggle against the Elementari. These titans, shattered echoes of the elemental realms, once ravaged the Prime Plane during the Second Age. The dragons, inheritors of the earth, decided to create beings that would embody the elements they governed and serve them in their grand realms. Thus, the elves were born.
The dragons sculpted the elves from the very elemental essence of the fallen titans they defeated, infusing them with magic and grace. Each lineage of dragons created a unique race of elves, tailored to their elemental domains:
1. Solir (Sun Elves): Sculpted by the Solar Drake, the Solir were imbued with the radiant energy of the sun, becoming masters of Sun-Rifting. They thrived in The Sun Realm, a land of perpetual daylight and intense heat. The Solir are known for their radiant beauty, exceptional light magic, and devotion to the sun.
2. Vanir (High Elves): Created by the Aether Drake, the Vanir were gifted with the ethereal qualities of the skies, becoming masters of Ether-Rifting. 3. Njordir (Earth Elves): Molded by the Terran Drake, the Njordir were infused with the strength and stability of the earth, becoming masters of Earth-Rifting. They dwell in The Earth Realm, a land of sprawling forests, towering mountains, and vast underground caverns. The Njordir are master craftsmen, builders, and druids, deeply connected to the land.
4. Unknown (Sea Elves): Fashioned by the Dragon Turtle, the Aesir were endowed with the fluidity and depth of the ocean, becoming masters of Water-Rifting. They live in The Sea Realm, a domain of vast oceans and underwater cities. The Aesir are expert sailors, hydromancers, and have a harmonious relationship with marine life.
During the Third Age (Age of the Elves), the elves rebelled against their draconic overlords in what is now known as The Riftfire Rebellion. As the dragons were already weakened from The Aeonic Struggle in the Second Age, the elven rebellion found success. The elves, driven by a desire for freedom and self-determination, forced the dragons into hiding. This marked the beginning of the Age of the Elves, an era defined by their ascendancy and the decline of draconic dominance.
Each elven race thrives in its respective elemental realm, contributing to the rich and diverse tapestry of the world's history. The balance and harmony of these realms are essential to the stability of the world, and their legacy continues to influence the present age.
