Blizz

This character is dead.
Elder Runewright
NPC

Blizz was a nomadic elder and sand-rifter (descended form of Earth-Rifting), known throughout The Sands of Serrakhan as the last living heir to the legendary Runewright Talus. A quiet sentinel of buried truths, Blizz wandered the desert for centuries in search of lost histories, guiding his people with a mixture of stoic resolve, elemental mastery, and ancient Njordir customs long thought forgotten. Cloaked in the windswept pelts of the southern dunes and etched with shimmering gold runes, Blizz was more than a sage—he was the last echo of a forgotten age.

Origins & History

Blizz was born under the red sun of the Serrakhan wastes, his form molded from the sand and silence. Like many Sand Genasi—mutated descendants of the Njordir altered by the Second Continuum Crisis—he bore a body that shifted with the desert wind, flesh interwoven with glimmering sigils and volatile elemental energy. His golden tattoos shimmered faintly in moonlight, marking him as a Runewright of ancient descent.

He was the great-grandson of Talus, the legendary Elder Runewright who (alongside Avatar Rok) sealed Malekith within the Tomb of the Twin-Spirit at the cost of his now accursed future. After Talus’ banishment, much of the Runewrights’ history was scattered like ash in the wind. Their once-strong engrained in the Greypeak Mountains was lost, and the survivors became exiled wanderers in The Sun Realm - forced to walk the sundered realm by Malekith's cruel curse. Blizz took it upon himself to restore their legacy—not through vengeance, but through the careful preservation of memory.

Life & Teachings

Blizz led the nomadic Runewrights of Serrakhan, moving from oasis to dune with the rhythm of forgotten lore. He lived among the Tuskari tribes, trading runic enchantments and elemental wards in exchange for stories. He was particularly revered for his trance-like firestick séances, in which the Runewrights would fall into dreamlike states beneath the stars, telling tales to honor their ancestors and reweave their broken past.

His blade—a summoned khopesh of compacted sand—was forged from Rift Magic and inscribed with runes known only to the eldest of his kind. He wielded it not as a weapon of war, but as a ritual tool—cleaving open paths through sand storms, sealing binding circles, or marking sigils of protection.

Though wise and well-respected, Blizz often seemed aloof. He had lived long enough to know that truth came in pieces, and history was more often buried than forgotten. He mentored many within his camp, but none more notably than Haellae Colaerth—nicknamed Hel—a gifted young Runewright who would later join The Sunsations and carry forward the fire of their people.

Legacy

When the Serrakhanian Survey Corps unearthed a trail leading to the Tomb of the Twin-Spirit through geological survey and arcane purveyance, it was Blizz who helped them locate the structure—an obsidian rift-pyramid hidden in the ash-wastes of The Isle of Ember. Knowing what it might mean, he cast aside his wandering life to join the Sunsations in their final battle.

During the Battle of the Black Sun, Blizz fought alongside legendary heroes in the shattered tomb. He raised runic barriers to protect his comrades against the Fallen Mythar Angels, channeled sand-rifting to bind their shadowed limbs, and invoked the name of Talus in his final ritual. But when Valekith pulled the eclipsed sun toward the material plane, all was undone.

Blizz was incinerated—body turned to cinder, tattoos flaring into golden smoke. In death, he became legend, his form lost but his name etched in the sands. The surviving Runewrights now whisper his stories around the fire, just as he once did, keeping the rhythm of his legacy alive beneath the stars of Serrakhan.
