A missing journal from a junior officer of Captain Sereg Kerkhof is believed to tell of the time the settlers spent underground. They were believed to be corralled together by The Greycaps, and as each group sought to escape, they met grisly ends of various sorts, but not at the hands of the Myconids. Known as The Marcelis Journal, it also contains detailed maps of the underground Myconid city of Luminous Hollow and an entrance to further tunnels.
The journal describes in detail how each group of settlers would attempt to find their way out, only to never return. Sometimes their bodies would be discovered later. Some would fall victim to monsters, while others would die to natural hazards. The Myconids would simply observe, allowing each group to meet their fate.
The journal was eventually returned to the surface by The Greycaps.
