Temple of the Golden Peacock

The Temple of the Golden Peacock is a bizarre and opulent structure. It gleams with an otherworldly light, its walls made from polished white stone inlaid with veins of gold and the rare ore known as Melekite. The exterior is adorned with intricate carvings of peacock feathers, their eyes glinting with jewels, reflecting the vain and prideful nature of the god it honors.

Inside, the temple is a labyrinth of mirrored halls and golden chambers, designed to disorient and awe those who enter. The air is thick with the scent of exotic perfumes and alchemical fumes, creating an intoxicating, almost hallucinogenic atmosphere. The central sanctuary houses a towering statue of the Golden Peacock, a magnificent and terrifying figure, its feathers shimmering with an unnatural radiance that seems to pulse with life. The god's eyes are sapphires, cold and watchful, and his beak is sharp, symbolizing the dual nature of his gifts: beauty and war.

Wizards of the Black Ring, who worship the Golden Peacock, are a secretive and malevolent order, obsessed with achieving immortality through the dark art of lichdom. They are clad in black robes embroidered with gold and peacock feathers, their faces hidden behind ornate masks that reflect their vanity and desire to transcend the limits of mortal existence. Their rituals are abominable, involving blood sacrifices, grotesque alchemical experiments, and the creation of phylacteries provided by their god.

The Golden Peacock is venerated not only as a giver of beauty and vanity tools like cosmetics but also as the inventor of copper smelting and the founder of alchemy, which the wizards practice to extend their lives, while perfecting their magic.

The worshippers believe that the Golden Peacock, as a being of pure light, is immortal because he moves beyond time itself, at the speed of light. To achieve immortality, the wizards strive to emulate this state, seeking to transcend time through their dark rites, alchemical experiments, and preparation of their final spell. Nearly none of them will accomplish this. Nearly. The temple is a place where the boundaries between life and death, beauty and horror, are blurred, reflecting the twisted ambitions of those who seek the Golden Peacock's favor.
