Sunstrike Hollow Gold Mine: A Forgotten Treasure

Sunstrike Hollow Gold Mine is located 40 miles northwest of Seregon, in the hills, on the Donderbeek River, hidden deep within the dangerous jungle. It lies along the old, abandoned railroad tracks leading from Kerkhof Station. The area around the mine is known for its treacherous terrain and is infamous for being overrun by zombies and other jungle horrors.
History of Sunstrike Hollow
Sunstrike Hollow was originally discovered and excavated by Harmen Walraven, a member of The Walraven Consortium. The mine quickly became known for its rich veins of gold that sparkled like rays of sunlight in the deepest caverns, earning it its name. Despite the mine’s potential wealth, Harmen and his crew struggled with the relentless threats of jungle creatures and undead that roamed the area. The constant attacks by zombies and dangerous wildlife made it nearly impossible to maintain operations.
Growing tired of the constant danger, Harmen made the difficult decision to abandon the mine. Before leaving, he paid his crew a hefty bonus, compensating them for their hard work in such hostile conditions. Harmen locked away the map to the mine in the Walraven Counting House, staying in Seregon without plans to reopen the mine.
For years, Sunstrike Hollow remained forgotten, buried in the annals of the Walraven family’s ventures. However, during the recent clearing of old vaults, the map to the mine was rediscovered. The family, eager to reclaim their lost fortune, has decided to reopen the mine, hoping it still holds the riches it once promised.
Varrick Deepdelver: The New Hope
Enter Varrick Deepdelver, a distant Walraven cousin and ambitious prospector. Varrick has come into possession of the long-lost map to Sunstrike Hollow and is determined to find and reopen the mine. With little mining experience but a strong belief in the fortune that awaits, Varrick is seeking a band of adventurers to help him locate and secure the mine. He knows the area is perilous and is well aware that he cannot succeed alone.
Varrick’s Offer:
Varrick Deepdelver has little to offer in terms of upfront payment but promises the adventurers a generous reward: any loose gold they find in the old mine, as well as any leftover gear or valuables that may have been abandoned by Harmen’s crew. He has no idea what kind of fortune might await them in the forgotten caverns of Sunstrike Hollow, but he is convinced the mine’s rich veins still run deep, hidden beneath the layers of danger that have claimed the surrounding jungle.
The Journey to Sunstrike Hollow
The journey to Sunstrike Hollow is not for the faint of heart. The path follows the overgrown railroad tracks from Kerkhof Station. Now, the jungle has reclaimed much of the terrain, and the railway is barely visible beneath the dense foliage.
Dangerous Area:
The mine is in an area infested with zombies, believed to be the undead remnants of past miners or unlucky travelers who met their end in the jungle. The zombies wander aimlessly near the tracks and the mine itself, drawn to any signs of life. In addition to the undead, the jungle wildlife—including venomous snakes, giant insects, and other predators—pose a constant threat.
