Major Anna van Drakenhof

Major

Major Anna van Drakenhof

Personality: Charismatic, shrewd, politically savvy
Role: Liaison with the Assembly, Investigative Oversight

Description:
Major Anna van Drakenhof is the diplomatic face of the Iron Guard, renowned for her charisma and sharp wit. With a raven symbol stitched onto her jet-black armor, she is both a formidable presence in the field and an even more formidable presence in the political arena. Anna is often seen attending Assembly meetings, effortlessly navigating the politics of the city’s leaders. Her charm and diplomatic skills make her a key liaison, ensuring that the Iron Guard's interests align with the goals of Seregon’s rulers.

Unlike Major van Zwartveer, Anna is incredibly adept at reading people and forming alliances. She is the one called upon to manage the six guard lieutenants, who handle the Guard's investigative work. She ensures that politically sensitive investigations are conducted smoothly and with the proper discretion. Despite her political role, Anna maintains a deep connection with the people and guards under her command, often going out of her way to support her subordinates when they’re in need.

While Hendrik manages the administrative side, Anna often serves as the public face of the Iron Guard, ensuring they are seen favorably by both the populace and the Assembly. She is a shrewd negotiator, using her position to secure funding and favorable policies for the Guard, while also ensuring that the Guard's internal workings run smoothly and without scandal.

  • Political Strengths: Assembly relations, public relations, investigative oversight
  • Weakness: Sometimes prioritizes political appearances over more tactical concerns, which can lead to friction with Hendrik

Role within the Iron Guard and City:

The two Majors complement each other, forming a powerful administrative duo:

  • Major Hendrik van Zwartveer keeps a tight grip on the logistics and operations of the Iron Guard. He is the one to present the budgetary needs to the Assembly, defend their expenditures, and ensure that the Guard’s resources are never lacking. His focus on strategic operations ensures that the Iron Guard runs efficiently and remains a powerful military force.

  • Major Anna van Drakenhof manages the political front and internal investigations, making sure that the Iron Guard is always in the good graces of the Assembly and the public. She handles the six lieutenants directly, ensuring that sensitive investigations are done with precision and discretion.

Together, they report to General Willem van Rijnders of the Iron Guard, but it is widely known that their roles go beyond simple military command—they shape the future of Seregon’s security by wielding their administrative and political power with care and precision.

The Raven Insignia:

The raven insignia worn by both Majors and the Iron Guard officers represents wisdom, foresight, and vigilance. Ravens are seen as watchers of the city, a symbol of the Guard’s duty to protect Seregon from both visible and invisible threats. The raven also implies that the Guard, like the bird, is always present and watching, ensuring the security of the city from its walls to its politics.
