*Tailyn Blithe (Jay)

The Story of Tailyn Blithe

Born into a modest family of scholars in the bustling city of Seregon, Tailyn Blithe always had his head in the stars. Even as a child, while others played in the streets, he would sit on rooftops with his eyes locked on the night sky, fascinated by the patterns and mysteries hidden among the stars. His academic prowess was evident early, and by his teenage years, he had mastered basic arcane theory and spellcraft. Yet, despite his growing talent in magic, he felt unfulfilled. The arcane arts were a tool to be mastered, but Tailyn craved knowledge that transcended the mundane, something far greater.

The Ithosian Talons

After his formative years, Tailyn joined the Ithosian Talons, a renowned mercenary company that balanced arcane power with martial might. The Talons were formidable, their influence stretching across nations. They offered him resources and access to magical secrets he wouldn’t have found anywhere else. The Talons, however, were not purely academic—they were a business, fighting for coin, power, and reputation. Though Tailyn excelled in combat magic and earned the respect of his fellow mercenaries, a growing discontent gnawed at him.

To Tailyn, magic was more than a weapon. It was a gateway to the infinite—a means to touch the divine, to understand the world on a cosmic scale. The Talons, however, were mercenaries at heart. Their goals were pragmatic, often violent, and always focused on material gain. Eventually, the weight of this philosophical conflict became too much for Tailyn to bear. Leaving the Talons was no easy decision, but his personal quest for knowledge—the deeper understanding of celestial mysteries—was incompatible with the mercenary life. And so, he left the Ithosian Talons behind, seeking a new path.

Lykeion Academy and Zestari Phinorin

Tailyn's journey led him to the prestigious Lykeion Academy of Magical Arts and Sciences, a school of magic nestled in the heart of Seregon, known for its focus on celestial magic. There, under the guidance of Master Gijsbert van Loon, a master in the study of the stars and the planes, Tailyn flourished. He delved deep into celestial theory, charting the movements of distant bodies, studying the intersections between the heavens and the arcane. It was an exciting, almost transcendental time for him.

At the Lykeion Academy, Tailyn met Zestari Phinorin, a talented sorceress with a fiery temperament. Zestari hailed from the Phinorin family, a wealthy and influential house from the Sultanate of Sahar. Despite her noble lineage and the many expectations placed upon her, Zestari shared Tailyn's passion for magic, particularly the untamed and unpredictable. She was fierce, volatile, and utterly captivating to Tailyn. It wasn’t long before their friendship blossomed into something more—a deep, passionate romance.

Their love was not without its difficulties. Zestari’s Dune Elf companions, especially those from her family’s elite circles, were wary of *Tailyn Blithe (Jay). To them, a human wizard was hardly fitting company for someone of Zestari’s status, and their disdain was palpable. However, Zestari and Tailyn found strength in each other, and together they sought out mysteries greater than those offered in the lecture halls.

The Expedition to the Temple of the Lion

After their graduation, Zestari and Tailyn, along with her Dune Elf companions, embarked on a daring expedition. Their goal: the Temple of the Lion / Ishtar Junction, an ancient ruin whispered about in legends. The temple, hidden deep within the jungle and obscured by time, was said to be a place of incredible power, perhaps even a gateway to celestial forces. Tailyn was particularly driven, as his celestial calculations had revealed that a celestial object, capable of subtly changing its course, had recently crashed near where the temple was rumored to lie. He was convinced that this object held profound secrets, perhaps even the key to his personal quest for understanding.

The expedition followed the overgrown Kerkhof Route, an ancient train line that had once connected distant lands but was now consumed by the dense jungle. The party hacked their way through the overgrowth, the jungle closing in around them. After nearly ten miles of arduous travel, disaster struck.

One night, as they made camp near what they believed to be the temple’s location, a great shadow passed overhead, followed by a sudden woosh of air. Before Tailyn could react, Zestari was gone, snatched from their midst by some unseen force. Panic erupted among the party as they were attacked by something in the darkness. In the chaos, Tailyn was struck and knocked unconscious, tumbling into the underbrush.

Lost in the Jungle

When Tailyn awoke, he was alone. The jungle was eerily silent, his companions—Zestari, the Dune Elves—all gone. Disoriented and consumed with guilt, he tried to follow the overgrown tracks back to Seregon, but something was wrong. The jungle itself seemed to conspire against him. Despite being on the tracks just moments before, he was lost. Days passed in a haze as he wandered deeper into the jungle, further away from the civilized world.

Just as Tailyn began to lose hope, he encountered the Nosgar Tribe, a nomadic people of the deep jungle, known to outsiders only in legends. The Stormeye Owls clan, in particular, were infamous for their mastery of weather magic and their ability to navigate the wilds with an almost supernatural ease. The Nosgar agreed to take him back to Seregon, but "eventually" was their only promise.

Among the Nosgar: A New Life

What was meant to be a brief return to Seregon turned into a six-month sojourn. Tailyn lived among the Nosgar, and the Wizards of The Nosgar, learning their ways, their rituals, and their connection to the jungle. He was introduced to their arcane traditions by Itzel Ix’Chak, a powerful Nosgar wizard whose name meant "She Who Speaks to the Clouds." Itzel saw potential in Tailyn, but his structured magic, learned at the Lykeion, seemed rigid to her.

Under Itzel’s guidance, Tailyn learned a different kind of magic—one drawn from the storms and the jungle itself, far removed from the sterile towers of academia. She presented him with a Nosgar staff, a totem of his journey, adorned with feathers, beads, and leather straps, each strap representing a spell or fragment of knowledge he had earned. Tailyn was no longer just a wizard—he had become something more, something connected to the primal forces of the world.

For months, Tailyn wandered with the Nosgar, his fear and guilt slowly transforming into understanding and peace. But the memory of Zestari haunted him still, and one day, as the Stormeye Owls came into view of Seregon, Itzel gave him a choice: stay and continue his path with the Nosgar, or return to Seregon and face the consequences of his past.

With a heavy heart, Tailyn chose to return.

The Return to Seregon and the Investigation

When Tailyn stepped through the gates of Seregon, he was almost unrecognizable. He had been gone six months, and his appearance had changed. His once pristine wizard robes had been replaced by Nosgar tribal garb—feathers and leather straps adorned his staff, his hair braided in the Nosgar style, his skin weathered by the jungle. But he was alone.

Zestari’s wealthy and influential family had long suspected foul play. Her disappearance had sparked a formal investigation, led by the city’s sharpest investigator, Captain Marieke de Vries. De Vries was a hard-eyed, seasoned officer who wasn’t easily swayed by tales of the jungle. The investigation had already cast suspicion on Tailyn—how could he return, looking more like a jungle shaman than a city wizard, and without Zestari? What had really happened in that jungle? Whispers spread through the city that Tailyn had left Zestari to die or that his jealousy had led to betrayal.

The Nosgar were considered little more than myth to most city-dwellers, and Tailyn’ story seemed fantastical at best. Captain de Vries, however, was relentless. She pressed him for answers, and the Phinorin family demanded justice. Zestari was too important, too beloved, to simply disappear without consequence. The investigation bore down on Tailyn, the weight of his guilt compounded by the growing suspicions.

But despite all this, one thing remained clear in Tailyn's mind: the celestial object he had tracked before the expedition—the very thing that had driven him into the jungle in the first place—had landed near the Temple of the Lion. He had to return. Something greater than guilt or suspicion was pulling him back to that ancient ruin.

Though the jungle had claimed his friends and changed him forever, Tailyn now stood on the precipice of even greater mysteries. He had faced the wilderness, the trials of the Nosgar, and the weight of his past. But the real challenge still lay ahead—unraveling the truth behind Zestari’s disappearance, the celestial object, and the ancient power hidden within the Temple of the Lion.
