Also known as the "waking eye", Asanye represented the transition from night to dawn. Worshipped by Smallfolk across Somnum, they were viewed as a genderless god of gentle light and life. Their symbol was interpreted both as the coming dawn, as well as the opening of an eye, bringing in light to banish evil and bless their followers. Their being was theologically thought to oppose Ixhis, the "closing eye".
