Born with horrific appetites, trolls ate anything they could catch and devour. These monstrous beings were infamous for their immense size, regenerative abilities, and insatiable hunger for flesh. They stood over nine feet tall, with gangly limbs, thick hides, and sharp claws. Their greenish or grayish skin was rough and mottled, often covered in scars and remnants of their previous meals. Their faces were hideous, with elongated noses, pointed ears, and mouths filled with sharp, jagged teeth.
Trolls typically inhabited desolate areas such as dark forests, swamps, and caves. They were solitary creatures, driven by an insatiable hunger that led them to attack anything that crossed their path, from small animals to unwary adventurers. Though they had no society to speak of, they often served as mercenaries to Orcs and other Giants. As payment, trolls demanded food and treasure. Trolls were difficult to control, however, doing as they pleased even when working with more powerful creatures.
Their regenerative abilities made them especially dangerous, as they could heal rapidly from almost any wound, making them difficult to kill. If the monster lost an arm, a leg, or even its head, those dismembered parts could sometimes act with a life of their own, and the bodies of trolls were especially susceptible to mutation. Only acid and fire could arrest the regenerative properties of troll flesh.
