Appearing to be an ordinary little black book, a divinatory diary recorded its bearer's dreams while they sleep. The prose written in the book was as hazy as one's dreams, and often would not make logical sense on re-reading.
While the diary self-recorded, no ink would stay on it's pages, making it useless as a journal.
