Elk were large but quick herbivorous Beasts that were adept at hiding, related to the smaller Deer. They were known for their impressive size, formidable antlers, and graceful movements as they navigated through dense forests, open meadows, and rugged mountain ranges. With a strong sense of smell, they were adept at sensing predators and would typically flee, but in a pinch could fight using their hooves or antlers. They would often attempt to knock an opponent down by charging with their long antlers, then disengage once their foe was prone.
Elk traveled in herds, led by dominant males known as bulls, who protected their territories and females from rival males and other threats. Their keen senses, including acute hearing and a keen sense of smell, allowed them to detect predators and potential dangers from great distances, ensuring the safety of their herd.
Elk hides could be made into strong, inflexible leather, and their hooves were used to manufacture glue.
