Werebears were shapeshifters Cursed with Lycanthropy, able to transform into a bipedal Bear form. Considered to be the most noble of Lycanthropes, the minds of werebears were not as inclined toward violence as others afflicted by the disease. Their animal instincts guided them to protect nature, while their humanoid minds inclined them to help travelers and provide aid to the weak. Like normal bears, werebears were omnivores, preferring to eat small mammals and fish.
Werebear humanoid forms were often large, heavily muscled, and covered in thick and shaggy hair. In order to prevent themselves from harming others they controlled their savagery and isolated themselves. When in Beast form they were more irritable and moody, and often sought out wicked entities to slay. They were particularly hateful of evil lycanthropes, although a small few were just as evil as their counterparts.
Werebears were mostly solitary, living in forest near waterways on the outskirts of civilization. Contrary to their isolationist behavior and independent lifestyle, werebears had a strong sense of community. They never attacked each other, allowed other werebears access to their fishing zones, and defended werebears from other lycanthropes.
