Vrocks were Demons native to the Lower Realms that could serve as flying shock troops, often deployed in large flocks to harass and overwhelm enemies. Although they could be summoned to the Prime Material Plane by powerful Spellwork, vrocks remained fundamentally loyal to the chaotic and evil nature of their native realm. They coveted jewelry an ornamental stones, pursuing such objects with enough fervor that they would turn on their own kind to obtain them.
They stood around eight feet tall and weighed nearly 500 pounds. Their bodies combined Humanoid and Vulture-like features, including feathered wings, taloned feet, and a raptor's hooked beak. They smelled of offal and could emit a stunning screech that incapacitated foes, allowing them time to pick apart their prey. They could also release a cloud of toxic spores from their wings, the combination of which made them especially dangerous in close combat.
Vrocks typically operated as solitary hunters or in loose flocks. They enjoyed destruction for its own sake and frequently sought Desecration, or to defile beautiful or sacred places. Although they lacked the ambition of more powerful demons, vrocks were cunning and opportunistic, often betraying allies or ignoring orders if it served their personal interests. Their chaotic behavior meant they were rarely trusted with important missions, but their sheer ferocity ensured their continued use as frontline soldiers.
Though not highly intelligent, they spoke Abyssal and could use telepathy to issue commands or taunt enemies. Despite their brutal nature, vrocks possessed a dark cunning and could occasionally be bargained with, provided the offer promised violence or mayhem. Such dealings often ended with the vrock turning on its summoner once its bloodlust outweighed any remaining sense of obligation.
