Barbarians, also called brutes, were fierce martial combatants who relied on raw strength and instinct in battle. They did not use Spellcasting to aid them in battle, but also did not generally focus on careful training like Fighters. Instead, they fought with power and emotion, entering a rage that made them stronger and harder to hurt. Barbarians usually wore light armor or none at all, trusting their toughness and speed to keep them alive.
As adventurers, barbarians charged straight into danger. They were usually at the front of a fight, dealing heavy damage and taking hits that would drop others. Their rage helped them fight longer and harder, especially in tough battles. They were not known for complex tactics, but their presence on the battlefield could shift the fight quickly. Outside of combat, they used their strength to solve physical problems and their instincts to spot danger before it happened.
