Whiteharbour Academy

Perched on the cliffs above the Grandport, the Whiteharbour Academy was one of the most prestigious institutions in the western Common League. Its white marble towers and glass-domed observatories rose above the harbor, visible from ships approaching the docks. The Academy was renowned for its multidisciplinary curriculum, blending rigorous magical training with natural sciences, engineering, and the study of history. Students of all ages from across Somnum traveled to study, drawn both by the school’s reputation and by the chance to apprentice under some of the most skilled Wizards, historians, and scholars in Commona.

The Academy’s campus was a domed complex of terraces, courtyards, and laboratories, connected by marble stairways that clung to the cliffside. The uppermost towers housed magical studies and libraries, where apprentices practiced spellcraft under the supervision of master wizards. Laboratories for alchemy, physics, and natural sciences were interspersed with lecture halls, allowing scholars to experiment with new discoveries while learning theory. History and cultural studies focused not only on Cliffsunder and Commona but also on distant lands, with rare texts and artifacts displayed in secure vaults, giving students an unparalleled breadth of knowledge.

Life at the Whiteharbour Academy extended beyond study, with the harbor and cliffs serving as both classroom and playground. Maritime experiments took place on floating platforms in the Grandport, where students tested enchanted vessels, aquatic magics, and navigation techniques. Festivals and competitions, often featuring magical duels and mechanical displays, punctuated the academic year, drawing curious nobles and traders to witness the ingenuity of the students.
